lived in Ross Co., OH at the same time three others bearing the
same name lived there. They were his Uncle Jacob Shobe, who
married his Aunt Margaret Stookey: his uncle's son Jacob, who
married Sarah Carr; and his cousin Jacob Shobe Jr., the son of
Little Rudy Shobe.In 1818 Jacob and Clory went to Warren Co., KY, where they
settled on a farm a few miles east of the present town of
Bowling Green. Jacob's son Moses built a large home, "Knob
View", on the family farm which remained in the family until
1978.
John Jacob moved to Greene Co, OH in 1817 with his
brother-in-law Leonard
Hegler (Hagler). He moved to OH because he did not believe in
the use of
slave labor for farming. A herd of 17 head of cattle was
driven by Benjamin
Stuckey and Jonathan Ketterman. It took 21 days to accomplish
the trip of 350
miles by wagon and horseback.
No issue.
Col. Hegler came to Ross Co in 1809 settling where Harrod's
Creek enters North
Fork of Paint. At his death he owned over 5000 acres of land.
