WILL OF JACOB SHOBE
8 July 1830 -- 13 Dec 1831I Jacob Shobe of the County of Hardy and State of Virginia
being weak in body but of sound mind & knowing the uncertainty
of life do make this my last will and testament viz:1st I desire that after my decease all my personal possessions
to be sold and the proceed therefrom to be equally devided
between all my children with the exception of the beds and
bedding also 1 horse2ndly I give unto my daughter Frances the trunk which contains
my dec'd wifes clothing also all it contains.3rdly All bonds or notes which I hold or which was executed to
me I hereby acknowledge is one half the property of my brother
Martin who is hereby authorized to receive sd one half.4thly I give one cow and my part of all the sheep which is now
on the place where I reside unto my Children to remain unsold
for their use.Lastly I hereby authorise and appoint my brother Martin Shobe
my Executor to this my last will and testament and also
guardian for all my children in the presence and hearing of us
who at his request and in his presents have subscribed our July
8th 1830

Isaac ArmentroutAt a Court held for Hardy County the 13th day of December 1831
This last will and testament of Jacob Shobe was produced proved
by the oaths of Hiram Taylor, Job Armentrout, Felix Welton &
Isaac Armentrout the witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded
and Martin Shobe the executor therein named refuses to take
upon himself the burthen of the execution thereof ---On the motion of said Martin Shobe & Hiram Taylor
administration with the will annexed(?) Is granted them on the
estate of said Jacob Shobe dec'd they having taken the oath of
such administrators and together with security entered into &
acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $4,000 conditioned as the
law directs.
