195. Samuel Shobe

Samuel was born in Concord Township, Ross County, Ohio. Samuel
grew to
manhood on the farm where he was born and was married to
Harriett Jones.
Hariett died when her first child was born. Two years later
Samuel married
her cousin, Mary Gracey.

In 1851 Samuel moved north to Allen County, Ohio where his
brother Aaron, and
his sister, Catherine (Shobe) Ireland had located several years
prior.
Samuel's mother went with him to Allen County. Little Joanna
took sick just
as they readied to move and died three days later.

After arriving in Allen County and getting his family settled,
Samuel returned
to Ross County for another load of furniture. While he was
gone his son
Albert died.

Samuel purchased a farm of 120 acres in Allen County, Amanda
Township, seven
miles north-west of Lima, where he lived until his death on May
31, 1901. He
is buried in the Allentown Cemetery, beside, his wife, Mary,
who died in 1907.
His mother is also buried there.

Samuel was a Christian man, hiving first had his membership
with the Pisgah
presbyterian Church, which was near his home in Ross County.
After moving to
Allen county, he was affiliated with the Allentown M.E. Church.
Later when
the Christian Union Church was organized, he became a charter
member of the
Bethel C.U. Church which is on State Route 81, two miles west
of Allentown.

Samuel was a staunch Democrat, although he dabbled very little
in politics.

199. James Rudolph Shobe

James settled in Warren County, across the river from Herman,
MO., where he met and married Eliza, but later moved to New
Port, MO., where he died. His wife then took James Thomas and
went to live with her parents. Charles Abraham was placed in
the Chitwood home, who were close relatives of the Roark
family. When Eliza married Mr. Sweet, the boys were reunited
and raised by their mother and step-father.


200. Solomon Shobe

Married Susan Callaway a direct descendant of Daniel Boone.
His farm was
located in Boone County, MO. In 1880 Census living with
son-in-law Samuel M.
Stevenson.

married Henry Schneider [Snyder], Larkin son of Flanders
Callaway was born Mar.
17, 1794, died Jan. 28 (or Feb. 18) 1839, Susannah Howell
Callaway, dau. of
Larkin Callaway married Dec. 18, 1855, Warren Co. to Solomon
Shobe, she died
Apr. 3, 1912, Susannah and Solomon Shobe buried in Praire Grove
Cemetery,
