CNN.com - Participant at KKK initiation wounded after shots fired into sky - Nov. 25, 2003:
"A bullet struck Murr on the top of the head and exited at the bottom of his skull, authorities said."

First, couldn't have happened to a better guy. Unfortunately, he is only a Darwin Award nominee instead of a Darwin Award winnner. Second, too bad nine more bullets hadn't found their way to finish off the job.

Hans Zeiger: The Thankless Generation:
"A typical, middle-class 18-year-old is endowed with a fairly new car with a fancy stereo system, a cellphone, his own television, a college education paid for by his parents and the government, access to fast food 24 hours a day, a laptop computer with Internet access, a ticket to the R-rated movie on Friday night, cultural license to engage in gratuitous sex, political license to attain an abortion, and social independence whereby he or she can easily avoid the constraints of organized religion. "
Big Crowd at Military School Protest Gets Earful of Patriotic Music From Army:
"Leaders of School of Americas Watch, which has protested at Fort Benning every year since the early 1990s, said they planned to sue over the noise tactic and accused the Army of a 'psychological operation.' "

Let me get this straight... You go out of your way to gather out in the middle nowhere in west-central Georgia to protest at the gates of Fort Benning, and you complian about the noise? Clearly, this is a simple misunderstanding. The Army only wanted to entertain their guests by playing music for their guests outside the fence. Those Socialists and Muslim Extremists only listen to that ghodaweful noise on MTV. They need to be exposed to real music. The Army is only trying to expand their horizons while keeping them entertained while they stand around with their panties in a twist.
As for this "psychological operation" complaint, who was there first and who went out of their way to go there? The Socialists can always go somewhere else and have their panty twisting party if they don't like the Army's taste in music.

Savings-account plan really about taxes:
"'When you lower taxes for the American public, it doesn't cost anything,' Sam Johnson (R-TX 3rd district) said. 'We just don't get the money in the federal government. We're not spending it; we're saving it for the American people and allowing them to put it into something that can make their life better.'"

Amen, Brother! Lifetime Savings Accounts, and their cousin Retirement Savings Accounts, are the best idea to come down the pike since the Roth IRA. Imagine saving $7,500 per year from taxes for use any time for any reason! Liberals whine that this is just a way for "the rich" to avoid paying taxes. Bovine exrement! For the truely rich, e.g., the Hollywood elite on their ivory towers, it is a drop in the bucket and certainly not worth their time. I understand that for the truely rich, they don't even bother with IRAs as $3,000 is too small an amount to make a difference in their tax burden. Now, as for those that Liberals call the "rich", which seems to be anyone who went to school and got a good job to get themselves into the top 25% of income earners, and for those in the lower 75% of income earners it will lower their tax burden and let them keep more of what they have earned for living expenses as well as for their retirement. This is especially important since so-called Social Security will be going bankrupt by 2030.
AAA Battery Service:
"In selected areas, when a AAA member calls for assistance or submits a request online and the problem is believed to be battery-related, a Battery Service van will be dispatched"
When you're having a battery problem, how likely is it that you will be near a computer? You're lucky to be near a pay phone. My last battery failure happened in the middle of nowhere. We were heading north on I-77 from Columbia, SC, and stopped to take a break at a truck stop/gas station/restaurant in the middle of nowhere. At that moment -- or at least somewhere since our last stop on I-26 in SW South Carolina -- the battery decided to not hold a charge any longer. (Did I mention that AC Delco batteries are cr@p?)

WorldNetDaily: Italian Jews 'not real Italians':
"Nearly a quarter of Italians solicited in a national poll say Italian Jews are 'not real Italians,' while many also oppose Israel's existence.
The vast majority of the 700 people surveyed expressed ambivalence over their Jewish brethren. Fifty-one percent said they believe Jews had a different mentality and lifestyle to other Italians.
"...17 percent said it would be better if the Jewish state 'ceased to exist.'"
Walter E. Williams: A politician's public service:
Re. Dick Gephardt promising an international minimum wage: "History has seen many calls for minimum wages for the same reason -- to eliminate competition with workers who'd work for less. During South Africa's apartheid era, white unionists argued 'in absence of statutory minimum wages, employers found it profitable to supplant highly trained (and usually highly paid) Europeans by less efficient but cheaper non-whites.' "
Michelle Malkin: Antidotes for Jessica Simpson syndrome:
"The same "progressive" Hollywood celebrities who sneer at President Bush's mediocre college grades work in an industry that has long prided itself on, and profited from, popularizing anti-intellectualism. From Marilyn Monroe to Suzanne Somers to Anna Nicole Smith, the deification of the ditz has been a staple of the entertainment world.
"Proud papa Simpson explains that when Jessica caters to low expectations, it shows that 'she's just a normal kid.' What a terrible message to send to young women and girls. Deliberately dumbing yourself down to enhance your popularity isn't 'normal.' It's degrading. Nevertheless, Jessica is delighted that exhibiting cluelessness and ignorance is now referred to by her peers as 'pulling a Jessica.' Just call them Generation Duh."

The Remediator Security Digest: Viruses are from Venus and Worms are from Mars:
"We don’t often think about what differentiates a virus from a worm. We just know they make big messes for administrators to clean up. For most folks, the differences don’t matter, but for the heroes behind the fighting lines, knowledge is a great weapon."
Funds under indictment -- by America's investors:
"During the bear market (2000-2003) investors lost $8 trillion, over 40 percent their asset value. However, fund managers, owners and directors didn't suffer much. They made more than $200 billion annually while their average expense ratio increased by 36 percent. Here are the details:
Fund managers: Compensation increased 35 percent (1999-2001) to an average of $436,500. Managers with 10-20 years experience made $761,500. The highest-paid 10 percent expected $1.8 million -- while investors lost over 40 percent!
Fund directors: These crooks voted themselves a 26 percent pay raise to an average of $249,500. Not bad for part-time work.
Fund owners: Fidelity's two controlling owners increased their wealth from $11.1 billion to $12.3 billion between 1999 and 2002. The head of another fund company made $47 million in 2001 while his investors lost 43 percent over three years. Many other fund executives voted themselves raises while markets were collapsing. "

According to this article, the mutual fund industry, and the Investment Company Institute (ICI), have violated the Securities Act of 1940. The Act states that "a fiduciary duty to place the interest of fund shareholders ahead of the interests of fund managers ..." Clearly, they have placed the interest of themselves and their buddies far above and beyond those of their shareholders. Hopefully, as these executies perjure themselves before Congress, they will be charged and convicted on RICO statutes for their crimes against investors. They can be roomies of the executives of Enron, Global Crossing, Worldcom, Tyco, Martha Stuart Omnimedia, etc.
