Outlined Gradient Text

This one's pretty easy. Fill the background with a color. I like to use black for this, but it's not important. Here I've used a small amount of extra character spacing to spread the letters out a bit. And the fill is a Multiple color fill using Ring #9. In the Gradient Fill dialog box, the gradient arrow is pointing down and to the left.

When you have your text on the image, make sure to use the Align command to center both. Use CTRL+C to copy the text to the clipboard. On the Attribute bar change the text into a selection. From the Selection menu, choose Expand/Shrink. Click the Expand button, click the Circle button, and enter 3 for the number of pixels. Click OK.

Press CTRL+F to bring up the Fill dialog. Choose Multiple colors, then Ring #9. In the Fill dialog, click on the arrow that points up and to the right. Click OK. Press CTRL+V to paste the text back in the image, and again align, center both. Your should now see something like this:

That's a neat effect already, but to continue... Use SHFT+M to merge the text to the background. Paste another copy of the text onto the image and align as before. Change it into a selection. In the Selection menu click on Expand/Shrink. Use the same settings as last time, but click on Shrink instead of Expand. After clicking OK, fill the selection with your background color. Remove the selection. Voila.
