Here is an archive of selected links that have been mentioned in my LiveJournal posts. They chronicle some of my many aimless wanderings around the web.
2005-01-20 15:03Link of the Day: Absurd Notions - This comic by Kevin Pease is quite fun. It has poked fun at, among other things, RPGs, telemarketers, burger joints, pizza places, college professors, art, relationships, operating systems, incompetent bosses, and roommates. It has great artwork and a cast of interesting characters whose personalities are quite different. I recommend reading the Classic Strips first, as they contain a lot of back story and commentary, as well as a number of hilarious jokes.
2005-01-13 15:18Link of the Day: Geek Love - See here why geeks may have better conflict resolution skills than other people. (You may have to scroll... the entry is from January 12.) You can take this at face value, if you choose, or with a grain of salt. :)
2005-01-09 22:12Link of the Day: Independent Starfleet Academy Training Center for Internet Security (ISATCIS). - Think a JavaScript password will protect your data? Think again. Want to test your cracking skills legally? Check out the page linked in this entry. As you can see from my comment, I made it past 12 security checkpoints. See how far you can get.
2004-12-30Link of the Day: Tragicomedy... I thought this was very funny, but those who are too easily offended shouldn't look at this. Don't get upset with me, if you do choose to look (don't get upset with the guy who posted it, either: you chose to look).
2004-12-25Link of the Day: The Christmas Price Index - See how the cost of the gifts in the song has changed over the years. This is a cute page.
2004-12-16Link of the Day: SLIM Computing - Talk about sweet. How's never fighting over the computer again, never fooling with a 2- or 3-computer LAN again? Check out this new PC.
2004-12-11Link of the Day: Discretion, Please! - Can't we all just be civil about our differences of opinion?
2004-12-08Link of the Day: What is XML? - A comparative explanation of eXtensible Markup Language.
2004-12-03Link of the Day: Lycos launches anti-spam army - Interesting concept, but I agree with the critics... this is on shaky legal and ethical turf, unlike NetTest, which seems to have been well-crafted. :)
2004-11-23Link of the Day: The Bill of Non-Rights - Some things every American should know
2004-11-10Link of the Day: Tax Cuts - An excellent story demonstrating how the idea that tax cuts benefit the wealthy plays out in the real world.
2004-11-08Link of the Day: Get the facts about compared security of Linux and Windows... or see Microsoft's(tm) version of the facts, if you need a good laugh.
2004-11-05Link of the Day: Flaming Hot Strawberries - I won't say much about this; you should check it out for yourself. It's hilarious.
2004-11-03Link of the Day: Rhetoric 101 and 102 - How to discuss things properly.
2004-10-27Link of the Day: Fellowship 9/11 - Is Aragorn's administration mishandling the war?
2004-10-25Link of the Day: Chiasmus - A neat little website about one of the facets of language, the chiasmus. You have encountered chiasmus in your life many times. You've probably even used one. Enjoy the body of quotes and information about different varieties of chiasmus.
2004-10-21Link of the Day: Power to the People! Otherpower.com is full of information about off-grid power systems. They even have instructions on building a hamster-powered night-light. Too cool! If you can, or if you need something they sell, buy something from them. The folks who do this website have a ton of useful stuff, and they have big server bills, so if you can help out, I'm sure they'd appreciate it... plus, you can do some cool projects with the stuff you buy. ;)
2004-10-20Link of the Day: The Diamond 16 Puzzle - Today's LOTD is a math puzzle you might enjoy. Flip different groups of tiles to form a specific design. I hope you enjoy it.
2004-10-19Link of the Day: Congress Passes Pointless Law - Have you heard any screaming media about plastic guns? How about "cop killer" bullets? You need to read this article.

2004-10-12Link of the Day: R.I.G.H.T.S. - This is a website those of you who are interested in photography for websites may find interesting. I didn't look very closely at the website, but its premise looks cool, so I thought I'd share.
2004-10-11Link of the Day: Parking Spots - This site is pretty cute. Toy cars 'parked' in real places.
2004-10-08Link of the Day: I Do Exist "is a documentary that delves into the lives of five former homosexuals and asks whether change is really possible..... The real answers, this film seems to say, may not be easy."

...and speaking of stupidity in various forms, today's LOTD is about Friendster, and I found it quite amusing. The trouble I have with these social network sites is that they assume you have an existing social network of at least five people (who want to go to the bother of signing up and spamming five of their friends, who will be willing to sign up and spam five of their friends... and so on). Not wishing to subject my very few friends to such nonsense, these sites never did anything but waste my time. That being the case, I proudly offer this as the LOTD. Link of the Day: An Ode to Friendster - on Buttafly.com
2004-09-02 16:18Link of the Day: Free the Children - This organization, started by a 12-year-old in 1995, exists to free children from slavery and exploitation, and to free children from the idea that they are powerless to bring about change. Free the Children is run by and for children. If you didn't see the story of Free the Children in the November 1999 issue of Guideposts, you can download the article in PDF format from FTC's media page or order Craig's book from their merchandise page. Be sure to check this out.
2004-09-01 11:03Link of the Day: Tough Times - Reprise link to a great entry.
