For several days, my website's index page wouldn't update. I was at the
point of tearing my hair when I remembered to check for case. As I
suspected, my Windows computer had sabotaged me by changing the case of
one of my files to uppercase. My case-sensitive ISP thought I had
uploaded a new file.
I cannot understand why Windows is so poorly designed that for a Windoze
user to interact with the rest of the world (Largely based in Linux and
Unix (REAL Operating Systems)) requires a great deal of care and
attention to petty details. No, I don't think everyone should switch
away from Windows. There are certain things you just can't get, and I
want them.
In my opinion, the fault lies with Windows. It simply isn't copacetic.
Why in the world would you write an operating system (in a world where
at least 60% of the internet is case-sensitive servers) that changes the
case of files when files are moved, without asking the user? The answer
is obvious, but stupid: Microsloth is not interested in compatibility
with the rest of the world.
