Blessing/Loving/Forgiving...
Overcomes Hating/Cursing/Evil:
Two Great Commandments of Love
"And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is,
Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: {30}
And thou
shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all
thy
soul, and with all thy
mind, and with all thy
strength:
this is the first commandment.
{31} And the second is like, namely this,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
There is none other commandment greater than these."
(Mark 12:29-31 KJV)
Loving Your Brother
Again, a new commandment I write unto you,
which thing is true in him and in you:
because the darkness is past,
and the true light now shineth. {9}
He that saith he is in the light,
and hateth his brother,
is in darkness even until now. {10}
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light,
and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
{11} But he that hateth his brother is in darkness,
and walketh in darkness,
and knoweth not whither he goeth,
because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
{12} I write unto you, little children,
because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. {13}
I write unto you, fathers,
because ye have known him that is from the beginning.
I write unto you, young men,
because ye have
overcome the wicked one.
I write unto you, little children,
because ye have known the Father. {14}
I have written unto you, fathers,
because ye have known him that is from the beginning.
I have written unto you, young men,
because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you,
and ye have overcome the wicked one.
(1 John 2:8-14 KJV)
Bless and Curse Not
Bless them which persecute you:
bless, and curse not. {15}
Rejoice with them that do rejoice,
and weep with them that weep. {16}
Be of the same mind one toward another.
Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate.
Be not wise in your own conceits.
{17} Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
{18} If it be possible, as much as lieth in you,
live peaceably with all men. {19} Dearly beloved,
avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath:
for it is written, Vengeance is mine;
I will repay, saith the Lord.
{20} Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him;
if he thirst, give him drink:
for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
{21}
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
(Rom 12:14-21 KJV)
Forgive Seventy Times Seven
Then came Peter to him, and said,
Lord,
how oft shall my brother sin against me,
and I forgive him? till seven times? {22}
Jesus saith unto him,
I say not unto thee, Until seven times:
but, Until seventy times seven.
{23} Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened
unto a certain king, which would take account
of his servants. {24} And when he had begun to reckon,
one was brought unto him, which owed him
ten thousand talents. {25} But forasmuch as he had not to pay,
his lord commanded him to be sold,
and his wife, and children, and all that he had,
and payment to be made. {26} The servant therefore fell down,
and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me,
and I will pay thee all. {27}
Then the lord of that servant
was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
{28} But the same servant went out,
and found one of his fellowservants,
which owed him an hundred pence:
and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat,
saying, Pay me that thou owest. {29} And his fellowservant
fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying,
Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. {30}
And he would not: but went and cast him into prison,
till he should pay the debt.
{31} So when his fellowservants saw what was done,
they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord
all that was done.
{32} Then his lord, after that he had called him,
said unto him, O thou wicked servant,
I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
{33} Shouldest not thou also have had compassion
on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
{34} And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors,
till he should pay all that was due unto him.
{35} So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you,
if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother
their trespasses.
(Mat 18:21-35 KJV)
A Man is a Slave...
They promise them freedom,
while they themselves are slaves of depravity --
for a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him.
(2 Pet 2:19 NIV)
Revelation Verses:
The Tree of Life
He that hath an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life,
which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
(Revelation_2:7_KJV)
The Second Death
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith
unto the churches;
He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
(Rev 2:11 KJV)
The Hidden Manna
He that hath an ear,
let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna,
and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written,
which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
(Rev 2:17 KJV)
Power over Nations
And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end,
to him will I give power over the nations:
(Rev 2:26 KJV)
Clothed in White
He that overcometh,
the same shall be clothed in white raiment;
and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life,
but I will confess his name before my Father,
and before his angels.
(Rev 3:5 KJV)
...My New Name
Him that overcometh
will I make a pillar in the temple of my God,
and he shall go no more out:
and I will write upon him the name of my God,
and the name of the city of my God,
which is new Jerusalem,
which cometh down out of heaven from my God:
and I will write upon him my new name.
(Rev 3:12 KJV)
...To Sit with Me
To him that overcometh
will I grant to sit with me in my throne,
even as I also overcame,
and am set down with my Father in his throne.
(Rev 3:21 KJV)
...Shall Inherit All Things
He that overcometh
shall inherit all things;
and I will be his God,
and he shall be my son.
(Rev 21:7 KJV)
Ask, Seek, Knock, ...Enter
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs,
neither cast ye your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them under their feet,
and turn again and rend you.
{7}
Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you: {8}
For every one that asketh receiveth;
and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
{9} Or what man is there of you, whom
if his son ask bread,
will he give him a stone? {10}
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? {11}
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children,
how much more shall your Father which is in heaven
give good things to them that ask him?
{12} Therefore all things whatsoever ye would
that men should do to you,
do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
{13}
Enter ye in at the strait gate:
for wide is the gate, and broad is the way,
that leadeth to destruction,
and many there be which go in thereat: {14}
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life,
and few there be that find it.
(Mat 7:6-14 KJV)
Fight the Good Fight of Faith:
"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,
whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession
before many witnesses."
(1 Tim 6:12 KJV)
"I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:
and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
(2 Tim 4:7-8 KJV)
-
"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
{4} (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) {5}
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth
itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought to the obedience of Christ..."
(2 Cor 10:3-5 KJV)
-
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of his might. {11} Put on the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. {12}
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities,
against powers, against the
rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual wickedness in high places.
{13} Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all, to stand.
{14} Stand therefore,
having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness; {15} And your feet shod with
the preparation of the gospel of peace; {16} Above all,
taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. {17}
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God: {18} Praying always with all prayer
and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto
with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(Eph 6:10-18 KJV)
Stay Humble:
-
"{12} Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
{13} There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man:
but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that
ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape,
that ye may be able to bear it."
(1 Cor 10:12-13 KJV)
-
"{5} Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder.
Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility:
for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
{6} Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God,
that he may exalt you in due time: {7} Casting all your care upon
him; for he careth for you.
{8} Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
{9} Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same
afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the
world.
{10} But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal
glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while,
make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. {11}
To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen."
(1 Pet 5:5-11 KJV)
-
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee,
let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem,
thy holy mountain: because for our sins,
and for the iniquities of our fathers,
Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach
to all that are about us. {17} Now therefore, O our God,
hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications,
and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate,
for the Lord's sake. {18} O my God, incline thine ear, and hear;
open thine eyes, and behold our desolations,
and the city which is called by thy name:
for we do not present our supplications before thee
for our righteousnesses,
but for thy great mercies. {19}
O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive;
O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake,
O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
{20} And whiles I was speaking, and praying,
and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel,
and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God
for the holy mountain of my God; {21}
Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel,
whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning,
being caused to fly swiftly,
touched me about the time of the evening oblation. {22}
And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel,
I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
{23} At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment
came forth, and I am come to show thee; for thou art greatly beloved:
therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
(Dan 9:16-23 KJV)
The Power of Prayer:
Whatsoever Ye Shall Ask...
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
he that hath seen me hath seen the Father;
and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
{10} Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you
I speak not of myself:
but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
{11} Believe me that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me:
or else believe me for the very works' sake.
{12} Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also;
and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father. {13}
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do,
that the Father may be glorified in the Son. {14}
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
{15} If ye love me, keep my commandments. {16}
And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another Comforter,
that he may abide with you for ever; {17}
Even the Spirit of truth;
whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth him not,
neither knoweth him:
but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you,
and shall be in you. {18} I will not leave you comfortless:
I will come to you.
(John 14:9-18 KJV)
Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament,
but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful,
but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. {21}
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow,
because her hour is come:
but as soon as she is delivered of the child,
she remembereth no more the anguish,
for joy that a man is born into the world.
{22} And ye now therefore have sorrow:
but I will see you again,
and your heart shall rejoice,
and your joy no man taketh from you. {23}
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name,
he will give it you. {24}
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name:
ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
{25} These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs:
but the time cometh,
when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs,
but I shall show you plainly of the Father. {26}
At that day ye shall ask in my name:
and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
{27} For the Father himself loveth you,
because ye have loved me,
and have believed that I came out from God.
(John 16:20-27 KJV)
"Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth
shall be loosed in heaven. {19} Again I say unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any
thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my
Father which is in heaven. {20} For where two or three are
gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them."
(Mat_18:18-20)
{21} Jesus answered and said unto them,
Verily I say unto you,
If ye have faith, and doubt not,
ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree,
but also if ye shall say unto this mountain,
Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
it shall be done. {22}
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive.
(Mat 21:18-22 KJV)
For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto this mountain,
Be thou removed,
and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things
which he saith shall come to pass;
he shall have whatsoever he saith.
{24} Therefore I say unto you,
What things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive them,
and ye shall have them. {25}
And when ye stand praying, forgive,
if ye have ought against any:
that your Father also which is in heaven
may forgive you your trespasses.
{26} But if ye do not forgive,
neither will your Father which is in heaven
forgive your trespasses.
(Mark 11:23-26 KJV)
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him,
because we keep his commandments,
and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
(1 John 3:22 KJV)
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name
of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
{14}
And this is the confidence that we have in him,
that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
{15} And if we know that he hear us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions
that we desired of him.
(1 John 5:13-15 KJV)
Christians Pray for Peter
Peter therefore was kept in prison:
but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.
{6} And when Herod would have brought him forth,
the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers,
bound with two chains:
and the keepers before the door kept the prison.
{7}
And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him,
and a light shined in the prison:
and he smote Peter on the side,
and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly.
And his chains fell off from his hands.
{8} And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself,
and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. A
nd he saith unto him,
Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.
{9} And he went out, and followed him;
and wist not [thought not] that it was true
which was done by the angel;
but thought he saw a vision. {10}
When they were past the first and the second ward,
they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city;
which opened to them of his own accord:
and they went out, and passed on through one street;
and forthwith the angel departed from him.
{11} And when Peter was come to himself,
he said, Now I know of a surety,
that the Lord hath sent his angel,
and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod,
and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
{12} And when he had considered the thing,
he came to the house of Mary the mother of John,
whose surname was Mark;
where many were gathered together praying.
{13} And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate,
a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. {14}
And when she knew Peter's voice,
she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in,
and told how Peter stood before the gate.
{15} And they said unto her, Thou art mad.
But she constantly affirmed that it was even so.
Then said they,
It is his angel.
{16} But Peter continued knocking:
and when they had opened the door,
and saw him, they were astonished. {17}
But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace,
declared unto them
how the Lord had brought him out of the prison.
And he said, Go show these things unto James,
and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.
(Acts 12:5-17 KJV)
Paul and Silas Pray
(Acts 16:22-31 KJV)
And the multitude rose up together against them:
and the magistrates rent off their clothes,
and commanded to beat them. {23}
And when they had laid many stripes upon them,
they cast them into prison,
charging the jailor to keep them safely: {24}
Who, having received such a charge,
thrust them into the inner prison,
and made their feet fast in the stocks.
{25}
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed,
and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
{26}
And suddenly there was a great earthquake,
so that the foundations of the prison were shaken:
and immediately all the doors were opened,
and every one's bands were loosed.
{27} And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. {28} But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. {29} Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, {30} And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? {31} And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Moses and the Amalekites
The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.
{9} Moses said to Joshua, "Choose some of our men and go out
to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the
hill with the staff of God in my hands."
{10} So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered,
and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. {11}
As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning,
but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.
{12} When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone
and put it under him and he sat on it.
Aaron and Hur held his hands up -- one on one side,
one on the other -- so that his hands remained steady till sunset.
{13} So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.
{14} Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this on a scroll
as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua
hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of
Amalek from under heaven." {15} Moses built an altar
and called it The LORD is my Banner.
{16} He said, "For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD.
The LORD will be at war against the Amalekites
from generation to generation."
(Exo 17:8-16
NIV)
