- Grief/Despair/Sorrow
-
my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not;
and in the night season, and am not silent. {3}
But thou art holy,
O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
{4} Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted,
and thou didst deliver them. {5} They cried unto thee,
and were delivered: they trusted in thee,
and were not confounded.
{6} But I am a worm, and no man;
a reproach of men, and despised of the people. {7}
All they that see me laugh me to scorn:
they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, {8}
He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him:
let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
{9} But thou art he that took me out of the womb:
thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. {10}
I was cast upon thee from the womb:
thou art my God from my mother's belly.
{11} Be not far from me; for trouble is near;
for there is none to help. {12} Many bulls have compassed me:
strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. {13}
They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
{14} I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint:
my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
{15} My strength is dried up like a potsherd;
and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws;
and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
{16} For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked
have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. {17}
I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. {18}
They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
{19} But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength,
haste thee to help me. {20} Deliver my soul from the sword;
my darling from the power of the dog. {21}
Save me from the lion's mouth:
for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
{22} I will declare thy name unto my brethren:
in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. {23}
Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob,
glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. {24}
For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the
afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him;
but when he cried unto him, he heard. {25} My praise shall be
of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before
them that fear him.
{26} The meek shall eat and be satisfied:
they shall praise the LORD that seek him:
your heart shall live for ever. {27}
All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD:
and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
{28} For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor
among the nations. {29} All they that be fat upon earth
shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust
shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul. {30}
A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for
a generation. {31} They shall come, and shall declare his
righteousness unto a people that shall be born,
that he hath done this.
(Psalm_22:2-31_KJV)
-
lessed is he that considereth the poor:
the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. {2}
The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive;
and he shall be blessed upon the earth:
and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. {3}
The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing:
thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.
{4} I said, LORD, be merciful unto me: heal my soul;
for I have sinned against thee. {5}
Mine enemies speak evil of me,
When shall he die, and his name perish? {6}
And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity:
his heart gathereth iniquity to itself;
when he goeth abroad, he telleth it. {7}
All that hate me whisper together against me:
against me do they devise my hurt. {8}
An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him:
and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. {9}
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted,
which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
{10} But thou, O LORD, be merciful unto me, and raise me up,
that I may requite them. {11}
By this I know that thou favourest me,
because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. {12}
And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and
settest me before thy face for ever. {13}
Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting,
and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.
(Psalm_41_KJV)
-
s the hart panteth after the water brooks,
so panteth my soul after thee, O God. {2}
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:
when shall I come and appear before God? {3}
My tears have been my meat day and night,
while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God? {4}
When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me:
for I had gone with the multitude,
I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy
and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. {5}
Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God:
for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. {6}
O my God, my soul is cast down within me:
therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan,
and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
{7} Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts:
all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
{8}
Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness
in the daytime,
and in the night his song shall be with me,
and my prayer unto the God of my life. {9}
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me?
why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
{10} As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me;
while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God? {11}
Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted within me?
hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him,
who is the health of my countenance,
and my God.
(Psalm_42_KJV)
-
n thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put
to confusion. {2} Deliver me in thy righteousness, and
cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.
{3} Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually
resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my
rock and my fortress. {4} Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand
of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
{5} For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.
{6} By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that
took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually
of thee.
{7} I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
{8} Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour
all the day. {9} Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake
me not when my strength faileth. {10} For mine enemies speak
against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,
{11} Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him;
for there is none to deliver him.
{12} O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.
{13} Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to
my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek
my hurt.
{14}
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise
thee more and more. {15} My mouth shall show forth thy righteousness
and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
{16} I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD:
I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.
{17} O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have
I declared thy wondrous works. {18} Now also when I am old and
greyheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have showed thy strength
unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
{19} Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done
great things: O God, who is like unto thee! {20} Thou, which hast
showed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again,
and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. {21}
Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.
{22} I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth,
O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp,
O thou Holy One of Israel. {23} My lips shall greatly rejoice
when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.
{24}
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long:
for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame,
that seek my hurt.
(Psalm_71_KJV)
- Fear/Worry/Terror (Panic)
-
e that dwelleth in the secret place of the most
High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. {2}
I will say of the LORD,
He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in him will I trust. {3}
Surely he shall deliver thee
from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
{4} He shall cover thee with his feathers,
and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
{5} Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror [fear] by night;
nor for the arrow that flieth by day; {6}
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;
nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. {7}
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand;
but it shall not come nigh thee.
{8} Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the
reward of the wicked. {9}
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge,
even the most High, thy habitation; {10}
There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. {11}
For he shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways. {12}
They shall bear thee up in their hands,
lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. {13}
Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder:
the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
{14} Because he hath set his love upon me,
therefore will I deliver him:
I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. {15}
He shall call upon me, and I will answer him:
I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him,
and honour him. {16}
With long life will I satisfy him,
and show him my salvation.
(Psalm_91_KJV)
-
ing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth;
and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath
comforted his people,
and will have mercy upon his afflicted. {14}
But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me,
and my Lord hath forgotten me. {15}
Can a woman forget her sucking child,
that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb?
yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. {16}
Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;
thy walls are continually before me.
{17} Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers
and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.
{18} Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold:
all these gather themselves together,
and come to thee.
As I live, saith the LORD,
thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all,
as with an ornament, and bind them on thee,
as a bride doeth. {19}
For thy waste and thy desolate places,
and the land of thy destruction,
shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants,
and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away. {20}
The children which thou shalt have,
after thou hast lost the other,
shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me:
give place to me that I may dwell. {21}
Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these,
seeing I have lost my children,
and am desolate, a captive,
and removing to and fro?
and who hath brought up these?
Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
{22} Thus saith the Lord GOD,
Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles,
and set up my standard to the people:
and they shall bring thy sons in their arms,
and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
{23} And kings shall be thy nursing fathers,
and their queens thy nursing mothers:
they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth,
and lick up the dust of thy feet;
and thou shalt know that I am the LORD:
for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me. {24}
Shall the prey be taken from the mighty,
or the lawful captive delivered? {25}
But thus saith the LORD,
Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away,
and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered:
for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee,
and I will save thy children.
(Isaiah_49:13-25_KJV)
-
thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted,
behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy
foundations with sapphires. {12}
And I will make thy windows of agates,
and thy gates of carbuncles,
and all thy borders of pleasant stones. {13}
And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD;
and great shall be the peace of thy children. {14}
In righteousness shalt thou be established:
thou shalt be far from oppression;
for thou shalt not fear: and from terror;
for it shall not come near thee.
{15} Behold, they shall surely gather together,
but not by me:
whosoever shall gather together against thee
shall fall for thy sake. {16}
Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire,
and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work;
and I have created the waster to destroy. {17}
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper;
and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment
thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
(Isaiah_54:11-17_KJV)
-
nd I say unto you my friends,
Be not afraid of them that kill the body,
and after that have no more that they can do.
{5} But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear:
Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power
to cast into hell; yea,
I say unto you, Fear him.
{6}
Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings,
and not one of them is forgotten before God? {7}
But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
(Luke 12:4-7 KJV)
-
(John 14:1-3 KJV) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. {2} In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. {3} And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
-
(John 14:22-29 KJV) Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? {23} Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. {24} He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. {25} These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. {26} But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. {27} Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. {28} Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. {29} And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
-
ow this I say, brethren,
that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God;
neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
{51} Behold, I show you a mystery;
We shall not all sleep [die],
but we shall all be changed, {52}
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye,
at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound,
and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
{53} For this corruptible must put on incorruption,
and this mortal must put on immortality.
{54} So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption,
and this mortal shall have put on immortality,
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written,
Death is swallowed up in victory.
{55} O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
{56} The sting of death is sin;
and the strength of sin is the law.
{57} But thanks be to God,
which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
{58} Therefore, my beloved brethren,
be ye stedfast, unmoveable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord,
forasmuch as ye know that
your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
(1 Cor 15:50-58 KJV)
-
ejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
{5} Let your moderation be known unto all men.
The Lord is at hand. {6}
Be careful [anxious] for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
{7} And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
{8} Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
{9}
Those things, which ye have both
learned, and received, and heard,
and seen in me, do:
and the God of peace shall be with you.
{10} But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly,
that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again;
wherein ye were also careful,
but ye lacked opportunity.
{11}
Not that I speak in respect of want:
for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am,
therewith to be content.
{12} I know both how to be abased,
and I know how to abound:
every where and in all things I am instructed
both to be full and to be hungry,
both to abound and to suffer need. {13}
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
(Phil 4:4-13 KJV)
- Forgiveness/Repentance/Mercy
-
ake a joyful noise unto the LORD,
all ye lands. {2} Serve the LORD with gladness: come before
his presence with singing. {3} Know ye that the LORD he is God:
it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. {4}
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name. {5}
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting;
and his truth endureth to all generations.
(Psalm_100_KJV)
-
ut of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD. {2}
Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice
of my supplications. {3}
If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities,
O Lord, who shall stand? {4} But there is forgiveness with thee,
that thou mayest be feared.
{5} I wait for the LORD, my soul doth
wait, and in his word do I hope. {6} My soul waiteth for the Lord
more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they
that watch for the morning. {7}
Let Israel hope in the LORD: for
with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
{8} And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.
(Psalm_130_KJV)
-
give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {2}
O give thanks unto the God of gods:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {3}
O give thanks to the Lord of lords:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {4}
To him who alone doeth great wonders:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {5}
To him that by wisdom made the heavens:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {6}
To him that stretched out the earth above the waters:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {7}
To him that made great lights:
for his mercy endureth for ever:
{8} The sun to rule by day:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {9}
The moon and stars to rule by night:
for his mercy endureth for ever.
{10}
To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {11}
And brought out Israel from among them:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {12} With a strong hand, and with a
stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever. {13}
To him which divided the Red sea into parts:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {14} And made Israel to pass through the midst of it:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {15} But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {16} To him which led his people through the wilderness:
for his mercy endureth for ever.
{17} To him which smote great kings:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {18} And slew famous kings:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {19} Sihon king of the Amorites:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {20} And Og the king of Bashan:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {21} And gave their land for an heritage:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {22} Even an heritage unto Israel his servant:
for his mercy endureth for ever.
{23} Who remembered us in our low estate:
for his mercy endureth for ever: {24} And hath redeemed us from our enemies:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {25} Who giveth food to all flesh:
for his mercy endureth for ever. {26} O give thanks unto the God of heaven:
for his mercy endureth for ever.
(Psalm_136_KJV)
-
will praise thee with my whole heart: before the
gods will I sing praise unto thee. {2} I will worship toward
thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness
and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above
all thy name. {3} In the day when I cried thou answeredst me,
and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. {4}
All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD,
when they hear the words of thy mouth. {5} Yea, they shall
sing in the ways of the LORD: for great is the glory of the
LORD. {6}
Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly:
but the proud he knoweth afar off. {7}
Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me:
thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies,
and thy right hand shall save me. {8} The LORD will perfect that
which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever:
forsake not the works of thine own hands.
(Psalm_138_KJV)
-
nd these things write we unto you, that your joy may be
full. {5} This then is the message which we have heard of him,
and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness
at all. {6} If we say that we have fellowship with him,
and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: {7}
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light,
we have fellowship one with another,
and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
{8}
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves,
and the truth is not in us. {9}
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
{10} If we say that we have not sinned,
we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
(1_John_1:4-10_KJV)
My little children, these things write I unto you,
that ye sin not.
And if any man sin,
we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
{2} And he is the propitiation for our sins:
and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
{3} And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
{4} He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments,
is a liar, and the truth is not in him. {5}
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God
perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. {6}
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk,
even as he walked. {7} Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you,
but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning.
The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the
beginning.
{8} Again, a new commandment I write unto you,
which thing is true in him and in you:
because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
{9}
He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother,
is in darkness even until now. {10}
He that loveth his brother
abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
{11} But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh
in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that
darkness hath blinded his eyes.
{12} I write unto you, little children,
because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
{13} I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him
that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men,
because ye have overcome the wicked one.
I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
{14} I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him
that is from the beginning.
I have written unto you, young men,
because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you,
and ye have overcome the wicked one.
{15} Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.
If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
{16} For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life,
is not of the Father, but is of the world. {17}
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
(1_John_2:1-17_KJV)
- Salvation/Atonement
-
ehold, my servant shall deal prudently,
he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high. {14}
As many were astonied [astonished] at thee; his visage was so marred
more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
{15} So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall
shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been
told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard
shall they consider.
(Isaiah_52:13-15_KJV)
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm
of the LORD revealed? {2} For he shall grow up before him
as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground:
he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him,
there is no beauty that we should desire him. {3}
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces
from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
{4}
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
{5} But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our
peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
{6} All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every
one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
{7} He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he opened not his mouth:
he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb,
so he openeth not his mouth.
{8}
He was taken from prison and from judgment:
and who shall declare his generation?
for he was cut off out of the land of the living:
for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
{9} And he made his grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence,
neither was any deceit in his mouth. {10}
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him;
he hath put him to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,
he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days,
and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
{11} He shall see of the travail of his soul,
and shall be satisfied:
by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many;
for he shall bear their iniquities.
{12} Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he
hath poured out his soul unto death:
and he was numbered with the transgressors;
and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors.
(Isaiah_53_KJV)
-
e came unto his own, and his own received him not. {12}
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
{13} Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God.
{14} And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
(John_1:11-14_KJV)
-
nd as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: {15}
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
eternal life. {16}
For God so loved the world, that he
gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life. {17}
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.
{18} He that
believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not
is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God. {19} And this is the
condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men
loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were
evil. {20} For every one that doeth evil hateth the light,
neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
{21} But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds
may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
(John_3:14-21_KJV)
hen answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily,
I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what
he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth,
these also doeth the Son likewise. {20} For the Father
loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth:
and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
{21} For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them;
even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. {22} For the Father
judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
{23} That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the
Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father
which hath sent him.
{24}
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He
that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation;
but is passed from death unto life.
{25} Verily, verily, I say
unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall
hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
{26} For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given
to the Son to have life in himself; {27} And hath given him
authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son
of man.
(John_5:19-27_KJV)
-
ll that the Father giveth me shall come to me;
and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. {38}
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will,
but the will of him that sent me. {39} And this is the
Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he
hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it
up again at the last day. {40}
And this is the will of
him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son,
and believeth on him, may have everlasting life:
and I will raise him up at the last day.
(John_6:37-40_KJV)
-
here was a division therefore again among the Jews
for these sayings. {20} And many of them said, He hath a devil,
and is mad; why hear ye him? {21} Others said, These are not
the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes
of the blind? {22} And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the
dedication, and it was winter. {23} And Jesus walked in the
temple in Solomon's porch. {24} Then came the Jews round about
him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt?
If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
{25} Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not:
the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
{26} But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said
unto you.
{27}
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
{28} And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never
perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. {29}
My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all;
and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. {30}
I and my Father are one.
(John_10:19-30_KJV)
-
nd after eight
days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them:
then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst,
and said, Peace be unto you. {27} Then saith he to Thomas,
Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach
hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not
faithless, but believing. {28} And Thomas answered and said
unto him, My Lord and my God.
{29} Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me,
thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen,
and yet have believed. {30} And many other signs truly did
Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written
in this book: {31}
But these are written, that ye might
believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that
believing ye might have life through his name.
(John_20:26-31_KJV)
ut what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth,
and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; {9}
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
{10} For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
{11}
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall
not be ashamed.
{12} For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek:
for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
{13}
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord
shall be saved.
(Romans_10:8-13_KJV)
ut God, who is rich in mercy, for his great
love wherewith he loved us, {5} Even when we were dead in sins,
hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
{6} And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in
heavenly places in Christ Jesus: {7} That in the ages to come
he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his
kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
{8} For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of God: {9} Not of works,
lest any man should boast. {10} For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath
before ordained that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians_2:4-10_KJV)
- Faith, Believing, Praying
-
erily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on
earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall
loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. {19} Again I say
unto you,
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching
any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my
Father which is in heaven. {20} For where two or three are
gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
{21} Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my
brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
{22} Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven
times: but, Until seventy times seven.
(Matthew_18:18-22_KJV)
-
nd when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it,
and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it,
Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently
the fig tree withered away. {20} And when the disciples saw it,
they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away!
{21}
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you,
If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which
is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain,
Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
{22} And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing,
ye shall receive.
(Matthew_21:19-22_KJV)
-
nd Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
{23} For verily I say unto you,
That whosoever shall say unto
this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;
and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those
things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever
he saith.
{24} Therefore I say unto you, What things soever
ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye
shall have them.
{25} And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye
have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven
may forgive you your trespasses. {26} But if ye do not forgive,
neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your
trespasses.
(Mark_11:22-26_KJV)
-
nd he said unto them, Go ye into all the world,
and preach the gospel to every creature. {16} He that
believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth
not shall be damned. {17} And these signs shall follow them that
believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak
with new tongues; {18} They shall take up serpents; and if they
drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay
hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
(Mark_16:15-18_KJV)
-
nd the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. {6} And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. {7} But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat? {8} And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink? {9} Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not. {10} So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.
(Luke 17:5-10 KJV)
-
nd ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again,
and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
{23} And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily,
I say unto you,
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name,
he will give it you. {24} Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my
name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
{25} These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the
time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs,
but I shall show you plainly of the Father. {26}
At that day
ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will
pray the Father for you: {27} For the Father himself loveth you,
because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out
from God.
(John_16:22-27_KJV)
- Wisdom/Discernment
-
f any of you lack wisdom,
let him ask of God,
that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him. {6} But let him ask in faith,
nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of
the sea driven with the wind and tossed. {7} For let not
that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
{8} A double minded man is unstable in all his ways...
(James 1:5-8 KJV)
...Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?
let him show out of a good conversation his works with
meekness of wisdom.
{14} But if ye have bitter envying and
strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the
truth. {15} This wisdom descendeth not from above, but
is earthly, sensual, devilish. {16} For where envying
and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
{17} But the wisdom that is from above is first pure,
then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of
mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without
hypocrisy. {18} And the fruit of righteousness is sown in
peace of them that make peace.
(James_3:13-18_KJV)
-
lso I say unto you,
Whosoever shall confess me before men,
him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
{9} But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before
the angels of God. {10}
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man,
it shall be forgiven him:
but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost
it shall not be forgiven.
{11} And when they bring you unto the synagogues,
and unto magistrates, and powers,
take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer,
or what ye shall say: {12}
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour
what ye ought to say.
(Luke 12:8-12 KJV)
-
y son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my
commandments with thee; {2} So that thou incline thine ear
unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; {3}
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy
voice for understanding; {4}
If thou seekest her as silver,
and searchest for her as for hid treasures; {5} Then shalt
thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge
of God.
{6} For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth
cometh knowledge and understanding. {7} He layeth up sound
wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk
uprightly. {8} He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth
the way of his saints. {9} Then shalt thou understand righteousness,
and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
{10}
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is
pleasant unto thy soul; {11} Discretion shall preserve thee,
understanding shall keep thee: {12} To deliver thee from the way
of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward
[perverse] things; {13}
Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
{14} Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness
[perverseness] of
the wicked; {15} Whose ways are crooked, and they froward [devious]
in their paths...
(Proverbs_2:1-15_KJV)
-
et wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither
decline from the words of my mouth. {6}
Forsake her not, and she
shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
{7} Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:
and with all thy getting get understanding. {8}
Exalt her,
and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour,
when thou dost embrace her.
{9} She shall give to thine head
an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
{10} Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years
of thy life shall be many. {11} I have taught thee in the way
of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. {12} When thou goest,
thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest,
thou shalt not stumble. {13} Take fast hold of instruction;
let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
{14} Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the
way of evil men. {15} Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it,
and pass away. {16} For they sleep not, except they have done
mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause
some to fall. {17} For they eat the bread of wickedness,
and drink the wine of violence.
{18} But the path of the just is as the shining light, that
shineth more and more unto the perfect day. {19} The way of
the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
(Proverbs_4:5-19_KJV)
eceive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge
rather than choice gold. {11} For wisdom is better than rubies;
and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared
to it. {12} I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge
of witty inventions. {13} The fear of the LORD is to hate evil:
pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth,
do I hate. {14} Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom:
I am understanding; I have strength.
{15} By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. {16}
By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
{17}
I love them that love me; and those that seek me early
shall find me. {18} Riches and honour are with me; yea,
durable riches and righteousness. {19} My fruit is better
than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
{20} I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths
of judgment: {21}
That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance;
and I will fill their treasures.
