COME PLAY IN THE 2002 (click here for more details -->)DC GAMES (JUNIOR OLYMPICS FORMAT) JUNE 2001 at TBA (in the Wash DC Area). This will be the 4th year that Alexandria All Stars has hosted this fine tournament in the DC area. The tournament will include boys and girls teams from 12 to 16 years old. Top teams receive AAU Olympic style Medals. Some of the best AAU and YBOA teams from the four state area will participate. One of the top AAU teams from Philadelphia will be playing. PREVIOUS TOURNAMENT The Alexandria All Stars won their opening round playing against the always tough Fairfax Stars 16U team. Come on out the basketball is great. The food is great too. Jim runs a great tournament. The Alexandria All-Stars won the Winner Take All U16 Boys Division Sunday. Frank Robertson was named tournament MVP. Alton Fortner and Kevin Tyner were named to the all tournament team. There were outstanding performances from Kino Clarke, Dante Milligan and Sean Moran. LASTEST NEWS: THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING Russian Flag For the fourth time in three years the Alexandria All Stars has hosted a week of International Basketball. see previous tour described in The Washington Post Story This time with the Russian National 16 year old team. The Russian National team will be in the Washington DC area starting in November 2000 to play some of the top teams in our area. If you have a team that is interested in playing the Russian team call us to arrange a date and time. The best matched teams will be: High School Varsity Teams. These Russians are big and they got game. Goodrich (24 points) Trinta defeated Parkdale HS Varsity Wednesday and defeated a quick Fairmont Heights Thursday. Trinta used their size, ball movement and aggressive man defense to win these two hard fought games. The Trinta team, in Russian style, use a quick up tempo constant fast break offense on every turn over, clean rebound or made basket by an opponent. It's fun basketball to watch. The Trinta Atheletic Academy Girls Team has been able to play three games so far on the tour. Trinta defeated the O'Connell HS Varsity 83-57. On Thursday lost, 54-46 to No. 17 Faimont Heights. The team went to Indiana to compete in the AAU Nationals July 3-10. They beat the number 2 team in Minnesota, the Supersonics, one of the top teams in both Texas and Mississippi. The over all record was 3 wins and 3 loses. ATTENTION COLLEGE COACHES: We will be adding a section on the highlights of the player's high school season as it progresses and will list dates, times and location of their games.
