| Smallworks began in 1997, the fruit of the efforts of Kathleen Nathan and James Stanford. After working for several years to build up the Contemporary Arts Collective, Nathan and Stanford decided it was time to fill a sorrowfully lacking void in Las Vegas: a cutting-edge, professional, private contemporary art gallery. The gallery was located in downtown Las Vegas at The Arts Factory. Into its fourth season, Smallworks management closed its gallery space to pursue other opportunities.
