- Henry Ott married Caroline Ott
- The couple had no children
- Is the Joannes Vögele who is the son of Andreas Vögele the same
Joannes Vögele who married Catharina Meyer? The evidence indicates this,
but it is not 100% conclusive. The marriage record of Joannes Vögele
and Catharina Meyer, which would name the groom's father, is missing from
the microfilm, as are all Soufflenheim marriage records between 1755-1787.
So I have relied on the following indirect evidence to settle this question:
- Two baptism records, on 23-Dec-1755 and 01-Mar-1756, described below,
have "Joannes Vögele, son of Mayor Andreas Vögele,"
as the godfather. Naming the godfather's father indicates that the godfather
was unmarried. For a married or widowed man, his wife would be named,
not his father.
- The first child of Joannes Vögele and Catharina Meyer, from the
baptism records, is Joannes on 18-Dec-1757. After this date there is no
further mention of an unmarried Joannes Vögele in the records.
- Andreas Vögele seems to be the only man named Vögele in Soufflenheim
fathering children who would be young men in the mid-1750's. If the Joannes
Vögele is not the son of Andreas, there is no other viable candidate
for who his father could be.
