The Appalachian Power Company building takes shape on Franklin Road. A streetcar passes in front of the Grandin Theatre (1944). Times-World Corporation once owned not only the Roanoke Times and The Roanoke World News, but also WDBJ Radio and Television. The microwave tower is visible on the roof, along with the CBS eye logo. (1950s) Roanoke has several "Time Capsules" scattered around. Here's one that was buried in front of the main library in 1957. Before it became the Oasis Restaurant, 'Wallace's' operated from that spot on Williamson Road.
