A disturbing trend continues. Mites take third in President's Day
tournament in StL after 3wins and 1 shootout loss. Mites survive as the only
undefeated team in regulation, but fall to "tie breaker" rules
from the tournament (One goal against). Win against Afton Americans in game 1.
Darien Huskies are next. A depleted (sickness) roster gets an eventual
shootout loss. Game three against Omaha saw 28 min in penalties and some
interesting officiating for a 3-2 win. Progression through the
"tiebreakers" yield OKC playing for third. Sooners defeat the same Omaha team
3-1 for third. The trip was much fun, and trips to the gateway arch, Dave & Busters,
the movie "miracle" and a bunch of swimming enhanced the trip for all.
Schedule is up for the President's day tournament in St. Louis. Two games
Sat against the Afton Americans and the (Darien IL) Huskies. Sunday we play
the Omaha Jr. Mavericks and end with the Champ/Consolation game Monday.
Sooner Mites take third in the Texas Star Tournament. Mites go 2-0-2 as
the only undefeated Mite team, and tie for the overall point lead. An untimely
TIE against the DJHA Minor team knocked the Mites into a tiebreaker (most
overall wins) for second place. The mites win the consolation game against the
same Penguins for third. Team defense was the focus for the tournament, and
much improvement was seen. Congratulations to the final Mite Champ, the
Highland Park Scots (Whom we'd still like to play some time!). On the social front Jatin Davis captured the flag from
the tail of a stampeding bull (calf) at the Mite scramble in the Mesquite
Rodeo.
Sooner Mites receive our opponents for MLK. We play the San Diego Gulls,
Dallas Northstars, and DJHA Minor. We may also meet the Houston Aeros or the
Highland Park Scots in the finals. We welcome the opportunity to play two or
three new opponents.
Sooner Mites go 2-0 against the Wichita Warriors Selects. Though
outmatched, the warriors were great hosts, and put on a great day of games.
Our thanks to the Wichita organization.
Mites go 0-3-1 in Dallas Thanksgiving weekend. Four hard-fought games
resulted in...... one tie. Ten Sooners skaters left it all on the ice against
15 or more skaters in each game...... Fun was had by all, and the sooner
'pins' were a hit due to the number of kids there that possessed them (11),
and the number of kids that wanted them (300+). The mites also enjoyed
watching Sooner Bantams (Go Josh) play. Thanks to the Stars for an
excellent tournament.
Sooner Mites take on the Iceland Squirts - Sooners 5, Iceland 1.
Sooners Go 5-0 at the OK Mite Bash. Our thanks to the Eskimotives from
Arkansas, and the DJHA Penguins for a great tournament. Final ranking -
Sooners, Penguins, Eskimotives.
Sooner Mites entertain crowds at the OU-Texas 'games' Oct 24 & 25. As it
turns out, our games were more closely matched than those of our namesake.
Sooner Mites entertain 2000 folks at 11-0 win of the elder Sooners on Oct
17th. There was plenty of action in the 1-0 scrimmage during the second
intermission.
The Mite Sooners go 1-3-0 for the weekend in Dallas. The team played 2 great
games, and gained much needed experience. Our thanks to the DJHA Penguins, and
especially the DJHA Minor staff for their hospitality.
Thanks to Outback Steakhouse I-240 & Penn. The team raised $1000 with
their help.
