On August 17, when we had completed the adoption of our wonderful
daughter Alana, we made a visit to the orphanage camp to visit with the
other children and for Alana to say goodbye to a few of her good
friends. Up to this point we had not met any of the other kids.
I wanted to take some photos of some of the other children so that Alana
would have some memories, and so that I could show them to other
prospective adoptive parents.
After a few minutes there, Snijana appeared. The very first
time I made eye contact with her I knew that I wanted to bring her home
with us too. She had her trademark winning smile, and seemed so
pleasant. She stayed by our side the whole time we were there.
We chatted with her a little bit through our interpreter, and quickly
determined that she had a pleasant and easy demeanor. It was not
to be that we could take her home then, but I was determined to return
for her.
During the winter, through my involvement with
Frontier Horizon, I had the
opportunity to bring her with three other girls from the orphanage for a
visit to America for three weeks over the Christmas holidays. This
visit solidified our desire to bring her home. She is a great kid.
She loves to read, is quiet but not overly so, and playful. We are
truly blessed to be able to bring her home.
