I have worked for Uncle Samuel 19 years troubleshooting, repairing, and configuring various LAN / WAN configurations (and certain communication equipment systems). For those of you familiar with Navy parlance, I am an ITCS (Formerly known as Radioman or RM for short). For the sake of simplicity for my civilian readers, that's a Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8).
Somehow in my career I managed to get married and divorced (the exact number of times will be released on a "Need to know basis" ;-) visit over 15 countries in four continents, sail three oceans and see some very interesting things. Would I do it again? Absolutely.
My fascination with scanning probably started when I was very young, listening to my Grandfather talk on his HAM rig. When I joined the military in 1984, my duties as a Radio operator further tweaked my interest. Sometime in 1994 I purchased a UNIDEN BC350A and never looked back.
I'm also a HAM radio operator call sign KG6STS. I can be found on most any of the repeaters in SOCAL, although I find the LYONS repeater (146.265 MHz (-) 107.2 PL) provides the best coverage for me. Currently A YAESU VX-7R serves as my HT, my mobile station is a Yaesu FT-8800.
I completed my Bachelors Degree in Information Systems (BSIS) at National University November 22nd 2003. Now that I can finally take a breath, I'm going to wait awhile before I tackle a Masters degree.
I have been stationed at various commands and owned many different scanners over the years.
