About Us

Purposes

The purpose of the South Windsor Historical Society is to seek, acquire, maintain, research and display objects pertaining to local history such as, but not limited to, artifacts, relics, books, manuscripts, oral histories, and genealogical data in order to preserve these for future generations and also utilize these for educational purposes; to provide information when possible for the preservation and marking of historic sites and buildings; to acquire by gift, purchase, or otherwise, real and personal property; to use and/or manage such property in any legal manner as the Society deems appropriate; to provide educational programs of general historical interest for the public; to carry on all activities appropriate for a historical society. The South Windsor Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

Membership

Membership in the South Windsor Historical Society is open to anyone interested in providing historical and educational programs for the members and public, restoring the Pleasant Valley Schoolhouse, preserving the history of the town, and other projects.

Membership categories: Individual, $15 per year; Family, $25 per year; Senior or Student,  $10; Contributing/Corporate, $60 or more per year; Individual Life, $250 per person.
