SAMPLING THEOREM:  The theory of statistics concerned with choosing a sample from a population (especially a stratified sample which is controlled to give a correct representation of other factors) so that the distribution of statistics for the sample approximates that for the population.  A biased sample is one in which the selected share a property which alters the distribution.  Ex. BC), courtier of Dionysius the Elder, who was tyrant of the city of Syracuse in Sicily.
