COMM
BIRKOFF: What's this?
ROBERTA: It's the number table you wanted.
BIRKOFF: You idiot! Are you an idiot?! I want you to cycle it through. Don't give it to me!
ROBERTA: Sorry.
BIRKOFF: Bonehead!
TECH: What about this?
BIRKOFF: No! What…? We already tried those. What's wrong with you people? Why don't you just go home? You're worthless! I mean it! Get out of here!
BIRKOFF: How many people does it take to run a program?
MADELINE'S OFFICE
OPERATIONS: I've been as accommodating as I can be. This has got to stop!
MADELINE: We've come this far, another few hours won't make any difference.
OPERATIONS: Why can't he hand it off to somebody else?
MADELINE: We've tried. Birkoff is the only one who has any idea how to approach this thing. It's an unusual code.
OPERATIONS: But, is it worth holding up a half dozen other operations that need his attention?
MADELINE: We've tried for two years to get sourced into this group. ... These people are extremely careful. We were lucky to even intercept the communication.
OPERATIONS: Fine. But, when does it end?
MADELINE: Give him until tomorrow morning.
OPERATIONS: No more than that.
COMM
BIRKOFF: Yeah! Yes!
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
BARRY: Larry, my youngest, seems to be okay with it, you know, everything rolls off of him. But, it’s -- it’s my daughter I'm worried about. She doesn't want to talk about it, and, you know, it concerns me, because I'm -- I'm a big believer in communication.
NIKITA: How often do you get to see them?
BARRY: Oh, a couple times a month, unless Denise goes out of town with the new boyfriend.
NIKITA: So, how long have you been separated for?
BARRY: Well, let's see, I …ah, lost my job in September so, since October.
NIKITA: What now?
BARRY: I'm going to get a job. And then I'm going to get Denise back! That sounds crazy, doesn't it?
NIKITA: Well, at least you have a plan. Did you want some tea?
BARRY: Oh, no, no I got to get back. I've got tons of boxes to unpack.
NIKITA: Well, if you need any help, just give me a shout.
BARRY: Is everyone in this building as nice as you are?
NIKITA: I don't really know anybody else.
BARRY: Well, you do now. Thanks for this. I'll get it back to ya.
NIKITA: See you, Barry.
BARRY: Bye. Thanks.
NIKITA: You're welcome.
BRIEFING AREA
OPERATIONS: An explosion at a soccer match in Manchester, England; a car bomb at a Lima, Peru embassy; a charter plane down in Japan. Relatively small incidents ..., seemingly unrelated.
OPERATIONS: Linked only by the fact that we have been unable to source them. Birkoff?
BIRKOFF: I cross-correlated the data on each act and discovered that each of the detonations was the result of a trigger communication from a DOD satellite.
WALTER: Department of Defense?
BIRKOFF: That's right. Someone drilled into a friendly satellite and was using it for terrorist acts.
MICHAEL: Why such small incidents if they can control the DOD computers?
BIRKOFF: That's the scary part. Someone's beta testing the software — working out the kinks.
OPERATIONS: And when they do, we can assume the actions will be much more devastating.
WALTER: Well, why don't we just take out the satellite?
OPERATIONS: We have, but the same techniques can be used on others. In the meantime, Birkoff has exacted a location from the group's last encoded command set. (to Michael) Work up an approach strategy.
MICHAEL: What mode?
OPERATIONS: Bring back as many as you can. Let's find out who these people are
SECTION VAN
MICHAEL: The building is stand-alone: forty-five hundred square meters, mostly space. Birkoff, how many bodies are you reading?
BIRKOFF: (from Comm) Right now I see twelve, plus transmitters and computers. It would be nice to bring some of that stuff back intact.
MICHAEL: Assume a high density defense. We'll strike quickly. Teams Two and Three, stay outside, cover the retreat.
MICHAEL: Team One, report.
TEAM LEADER: There's no one here.
BIRKOFF: (from Comm) I'm picking up twelve bodies. Someone's there. I just sent you a mark. Check it out.
BIRKOFF: What is it?
MICHAEL: It's a trap.
MADELINE'S OFFICE
OPERATIONS: What does Analysis have to say about what they found on site?
MADELINE: Everything was state of the art. No expense was spared.
OPERATIONS: Red Cell?
MADELINE: No, it doesn't have their signature. Red Cell wouldn't go to the trouble to fully automate an operation. They'd use personnel.
BIRKOFF: It was a bogus code. Probably a decoy.
OPERATIONS: Not according to our friends from the NSA.
BIRKOFF: What did they say?
OPERATIONS: That the information's in the code. The data you extracted was simply an outer shell, a protective mechanism.
BIRKOFF: Can they get at it?
MADELINE: No. They've tried. It's beyond their capabilities.
OPERATIONS: This is unacceptable! There's got to be someone who can do this!
MADELINE: (to Birkoff) Can you find us someone?
BIRKOFF: From the outside?
MADELINE: Yes.
BIRKOFF: There's probably no more than a handful of mathematicians who work in this area at this level.
OPERATIONS: Find them.
BIRKOFF: Yes, sir.
SYSTEMS
BIRKOFF: Emil Ondruska. The world's leading specialist in non-linear key theory.
MADELINE: Where does he do his work from?
BIRKOFF: University of St. Petersburg.
MICHAEL: Government affiliations?
BIRKOFF: Many. He's owned by Moscow.
BIRKOFF: Sung-Hee Park. A professor at a Think Tank in North Korea. She was the brains behind the J-MEV algorithm.
OPERATIONS: How about somebody accessible?
BIRKOFF: Like I told you, it's a pretty select group. I did pull one match from the West who might be able to do it, but there are constraints.
MADELINE: What kind of 'constraints'?
BIRKOFF: He's young. His name is Greg Hillinger. Graduated high school at eleven; college at thirteen. Received his Ph.D. after six months. Wrote his thesis on non-linear principal components. Because he's the youngest tenured Professor in the history of the University, he's highly visible.
MADELINE: What makes you think he can do this?
BIRKOFF: He's written several papers on statistical L-trees. Exactly the kind of approach that's needed.
OPERATIONS: Family?
BIRKOFF: Actually, he still lives with his mother.
OPERATIONS: Will he cooperate with his government?
BIRKOFF: He's turned down NSA and other agencies who've tried to enlist him. (DRY) Mother doesn't want her only child designing weapons.
MADELINE: Then we'll have to take him against his will.
BIRKOFF: That shouldn't be too difficult. The University sends a van to pick him up every morning.
HILLINGER RESIDENCE
RITA HILLINGER: Hey! Hey, where are your gloves?
GREG: Don't need 'em.
RITA HILLINGER: I don't want you getting sick.
GREG: Okay?
RITA HILLINGER: Don't you get smart with me. Boy, do you need a haircut.
GREG: Mom, I've gotta go.
RITA HILLINGER: We're having spaghetti for dinner.
GREG: Thanks.
RITA HILLINGER: Keep your hands warm!
GREG: What's going on, Jake?
GREG: Who the hell are you?
NIKITA: Hello, Greg. I'm Nikita. Listen, we're not gonna hurt you. We just want your help. You'll be back home in twenty-four hours.
GREG: No! No!
NIKITA: Greg, I'm sorry. Twenty-four hours, you'll be back home, before you know it. Just take it easy.
SECTION: VAN ACCESS
GREG: Hey, you can't do this! I happen to be a really important person. There's going to be people looking for me, and not just the police!
OPERATIONS: I'm sorry we had to do this, Greg. We need your assistance for a short time, then you'll be safely returned.
GREG: Hey, go to Hell! I want to talk to the man in charge!
OPERATIONS: I am the 'man in charge.'
GREG: You couldn't be in charge of my crotch!
OPERATIONS: Why hasn't he been sedated?
GREG: That's real smart! Real Smart! What are you gonna do, fill my brain with beta blockers and get me to solve a problem? Where am I, exactly? Stupid City?
OPERATIONS: Take him to his room. Tell Madeline he's here.
NIKITA: Come on, Greg.
SECTION: GREG'S ROOM
GREG: Ow! Hey, easy! Ow!
NIKITA: You want to calm down for one second, so I can take the hood off?
GREG: Ah, yes, great, good, take the hood off! Sure, finally I get to see this pathetic ...What's that? That's not a Unix C Shell. I've never seen this OS before. You running on some derivative of the Korn interface?
NIKITA: I don't know. Birkoff'll get into that with you.
GREG: Birkoff? Sounds like a Nazi! No, you know what? You're ALL Nazis! And don't tell me to calm down, okay? Because, I'm not going to calm down! I'm not gonna do anything .. for anybody until somebody lets me talk to my Mom! Okay? You know what, do me a favor. Go tell that to the guy with the bullfrog in his throat who thinks he's in charge!
MADELINE'S OFFICE
GREG: Thanks!
OPERATIONS: What do you think?
MADELINE: I'll observe him for a couple of hours. Then, we'll have a talk.
OPERATIONS: Tolerate only so much from this kid. If he doesn't cooperate, wear him down!
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
NIKITA: Hold on!
NIKITA: Ah, Barry. You're up late.
BARRY: Oh, I'm sorry. Did I get you up?
NIKITA: What's up?
BARRY: I'm been in my apartment going through the classifieds, and ....
NIKITA: Any luck?
BARRY: No - Not yet, but I am going to make some ... you know ... some phone calls tomorrow, so ...
NIKITA: Good, good. Do you want to come on in?
BARRY: Oh, no, no. I, I - I really can't ... I just .. I just, um, ah ...
NIKITA: Is there something wrong?
BARRY: Ah ... Yes and No. Not, not really. Ah ... But there's a -- there’s a favor ... I'd like to ask of you?
NIKITA: Sure. What is it?
BARRY: Could you, ah, hold on to this .. ah, .. for me just for a couple of days?
NIKITA: What's in it?
BARRY: Oh, ah, jewelry, heirlooms, that -- that sort of thing.
NIKITA: Barry, I don't understand.
BARRY: Oh, well, you see. Denise is sending over a couple of lawyers tomorrow. They're gonna do a 'discovery.' They're going to search the whole place, this divorce is really getting crazy.
NIKITA: Barry, I -- I'd really rather not.
BARRY: Yeah, I know what you mean, you can't be too careful. But, it -- it really --there's nothing that spectacular in here. It just, you know, some...stuff. It’s my Dad's coin collection, and my ... this ring, my -- my grandmother brought this ring from Russia.in 1897. And, ah, she never sold it, even when things got tough, and I ...
NIKITA: It's very pretty.
BARRY: Ah, yeah. I don't even know if it's worth anything, but it means a lot to me. I'd hate for those lawyers to end up with this.
NIKITA: All right.
BARRY: Okay, so .. ah ... I'll come back tomorrow, after the lawyers have finished snooping around and .. get it again ... okay?
NIKITA: Good. Good night.
GREG'S ROOM
MADELINE: I see you've made yourself at home..
GREG: I could care less about this crap. I'm just bored.
MADELINE: We don't want that.
GREG: Is somebody ever going to tell me what I'm doing here?
MADELINE: In a bit.
GREG: Okay, what about…Birkoff? Seymour Birkoff. Age: twenty-one; one hundred thirty-five pounds; 20-80 vision; Sysadmin for every host on this LAN. Should I continue?
MADELINE: We've let you roam through an outer, non-secured area of the network to give you something to do.
GREG: Gee, thanks. You think I can't dig deeper?
MADELINE: If you did and by some fluke happened on to something, classified ... You'd never go home again. Never see your mother again. Your life would be over. We've gone to a great deal of trouble to protect you, don't work against us, Gregory.
GREG: Who are you guys? Secret Service? Interpol?
MADELINE: We need you to break a code.
GREG: That's it? Just break a code? Why didn't you just ask me?
MADELINE: We couldn't take a chance that you or your mother might object. It needs to be done immediately.
GREG: What if I don't do it?
MADELINE: You'll do it.
COMM
MADELINE: He's ready.
BIRKOFF: Great.
MADELINE: Birkoff, remember, this is not about who's smarter than whom.
BIRKOFF: Yeah, I know.
MADELINE: He'll challenge you. Stay above it. We have an objective and a deadline.
GREG'S ROOM
GREG: Ha-hey, it’s Birkoff! Come on in! How's it going, Birkoff?
GREG: Good. You know what? I wish you guys would let me in deeper, because there's really not too more I can fix here.
BIRKOFF: Fix?!
GREG: Yeah, you had some bad modification dates in your .. ah .. master symbol table.
BIRKOFF: Which one?
GREG: Don't worry. I fixed 'em.
BIRKOFF: Let's just get to work, okay? Then you can go back home to your Mommy.
GREG: Sure. So, you're the guy who couldn't break the code.
BIRKOFF: Yeah, I haven't devoted my entire life to one obscure corner of technology.
GREG: Non-linear principal components? Yeah! I remember that: six months, actually. It was fun. Did it at .. ah .. UCLA. I learned to surf that summer.
BIRKOFF: Here it is.
GREG: Let's take a look. Hmmm. It’s got an outer shell. It's a big decoy…if you're six years old! So, what is this place?
BIRKOFF: Just work.
GREG: What's the matter, Birkoff, can't you chew gum and walk at the same time? What'd they do, kidnap you, too?
GREG: Okay, watch this. You like that, huh?
BIRKOFF: That function wasn't in the program.
GREG: I know. So, what do you wanna do now?
BIRKOFF: What do you mean? You're done?
GREG: Of course not, Einstein. It's got to cycle through.
BIRKOFF: How long's it gonna take?
GREG: On that piece of crap? I don't know, twelve hours.
BIRKOFF: Could it go any faster?
GREG: Not unless you've got a multi-threaded O.S. hanging around the batcave.
BIRKOFF: We've got one. I can't take you there.
GREG: Patch me in. Read Only. I can't touch anything. You'll have your code in ... two hours.
BIRKOFF: I can't give you that kind of access.
GREG: You're right. It's safer to have a guy like me outside the firewall. It’s not like we're in a hurry or anything.
BIRKOFF: All right, I'll go up, open a channel.
GREG: Good, maybe I can get out of here.
BIRKOFF: That'd be nice.
MADELINE'S ROOM
MICHAEL: I've just heard from Birkoff. Greg was successful. He broke the code.
MADELINE: What did it tell us?
MICHAEL: The transmission was sent from a small village in South Africa.
MADELINE: Prepare a Team.
COMM
NIKITA: Hey. So I hear Boy Wonder came through.
BIRKOFF: Yeah.
NIKITA: Don't mope, Birkoff. It doesn't become you.
BIRKOFF: You know what really bugs me? I was just like him when I was his age. Thought I had all the answers.
NIKITA: But, he does.
BIRKOFF: No, he doesn't! He's got everybody fooled. He's a one-trick pony.
NIKITA: Okay, so when's the 'pony' going home?
BIRKOFF: That's your job.
NIKITA: I'm not on Team One?
BIRKOFF: You're Greggie's ride home.
NIKITA: Don't worry, Birkoff. You're still my favorite overachiever.
GREG'S ROOM/COMM
NIKITA: I've got good news, Greg, you're going home. Greg?
NIKITA: (via comm) Birkoff, I thought you said he was in his room. Did someone else come pick him up?
BIRKOFF: No. Why? Is everything okay?
NIKITA: (voice) Yeah, he's here. Never mind.
SECTION: CORRIDOR
NIKITA: Listen to me carefully, Greg. Has anyone seen you? Yes or No? Here's what we're going to do. I'm gonna put this hood on your head and we're out of here. If anybody had found out that you've seen this place, you'd never leave here. Ever! Do you understand? Do you understand?
GREG: I don't want to leave. I don't -- I don't want to leave. Have you've seen that stuff? They've got ten times the resources of any Think Tank they've ever wanted me to work at.
NIKITA: You're not hearing me!
GREG: I'm hearing you, just fine. "I'm never gonna get out, blah, blah, blah." But, you forget who I am! Computers control this whole compound. Who controls the computers? I do!
NIKITA: Well, what about your mother?
GREG: If I miss her, I'll leave. I can find a way. Believe me. But, that's gonna be a while, 'cause I like it here.
NIKITA: Do you know what this place is? Do you any idea what they do here?
GREG: I don't know, intelligence gathering for some multi-national corporation, who cares? Whoever you are, those are some really expensive toys. You've got enough R&D dollars to do some really serious damage.
NIKITA: You're going home.
GREG: Okay, aren't you forgetting something, Barbie? I've already seen this place. I'm gonna tell somebody and they'll make me stay --
NIKITA: You say a word and I'll break your neck. Got it? Good. Walk slowly, boy.
GREG: Where are we going?
NIKITA: I want to show you something.
GREG: Oh God!
NIKITA: You like that? Because you better get used to it if you want to hang here. Happens every day.
GREG: What is he? Some kind of criminal?
NIKITA: No. That's Dave. He works here.
GREG: Why are they doing that to him?
NIKITA: He made a mistake. Had lunch with an old girlfriend in London.
GREG: I don't get it.
NIKITA: They thought maybe he told her about this place. He probably didn't, but they wanted to make sure before they kill him. Now, we're going to go back to your room, and we are gonna get your things. And then we're going to leave. And you'll never tell anybody about any of this, right?
MADELINE: Take the boy.
GREG: No! No! Let me alone! What are you doing? I'm didn’t see stuff?!
MADELINE: You already have. I tried to warn you, Greg. Take him. So, what do we do about you now?
NIKITA: He's a teenage boy with an extraordinary mind. Who knows what he'll accomplish or how many people will benefit if he lives. You want to lock him up because that's what the rule book says?
MADELINE: Your point is well-taken. But these aren't easy decisions. I don't enjoy making them..
NIKITA: I think you do. I think you go home to bed every night, hoping someone will screw up, so you can make your "hard decisions."
MADELINE: I'll overlook this incident for now but we will be watching you more closely.
SECTION CARGO PLANE
MICHAEL: Birkoff, are you there?
BIRKOFF: (via comm) are you seeing it, too?
MICHAEL: Why is the beacon moving?
BIRKOFF: (via comm) I don't know, I thought we were suppose to be locked on.
MICHAEL: Could the target be moving?
BIRKOFF: Not three times the speed of sound.
MICHAEL: (via comm) What does it mean?
BIRKOFF: It means the sequence Greg extracted from the code is self-modifying.
MICHAEL: A virus?
BIRKOFF: (via comm) Could be. Maybe Amadeus didn't catch it. I'll see if I can separate out some clean data. Give me a minute here.
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
BARRY: (from his apartment) You got it wrong! You -- You've got it all wrong! I went right from the bar to Rod's place. If you're light, then talk to Rod. Not me.
MAN: We'll be back in an hour. You better have it, Barry.
OPERATIONS' PERCH
OPERATIONS: Thank you.
GREG: Yeah, thanks.
OPERATIONS: That was a stupid thing you did, Greg. Unfortunately, this place cannot tolerate mistakes. You've seen that.
GREG: Spare me the lecture, Old Folks. Are you going let me go or not?
OPERATIONS: No, we're not.
GREG: Hmmm. You may want to reconsider that.
OPERATIONS: And why would I want to do that?
GREG: Ask Birkoff.
OPERATIONS: Birkoff? Birkoff.
BIRKOFF: Sir, I'm sorry, we're in the middle of a multiple anomaly.
OPERATIONS: What's wrong?
BIRKOFF: The decoded sequence is generating a virus that's bleeding into the system.
OPERATIONS: The entire system?
BIRKOFF: Yeah.
GREG: I might be able to fix that for you.
COMM
ROBERTA: We're not receiving. Are you there?
BIRKOFF: Use analog.
ROBERTA: But it’s not secure.
BIRKOFF: Doesn't matter. All our digital channels are being corrupted by this thing.
BIRKOFF: That's a non-essential process. Kill it! Call NATO Comm, find out if we can borrow some of their bandwidth. It's getting worse. Our communication integrity is down almost eighty percent.
OPERATIONS: How many places are we mid-Mission?
BIRKOFF: Three. I'm trying to work around it.
OPERATIONS: And Michael?
BIRKOFF: He's in a holding pattern outside Johannesburg. I'm still trying to figure out if the location Hillinger extracted from the code is real.
OPERATIONS: Hillinger says he can make the problem go away, if we let him go.
BIRKOFF: I'm sorry. I should have seen this coming.
OPERATIONS: This is just a game to him. One that we can't let him win. Can you get us out of this?
BIRKOFF: No. He's too good.
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
NIKITA: Hi, Barry.
BARRY: Um, Nikita, I need -- I need that thing back.
NIKITA: Come on in.
BARRY: Um, um, I'm really in ... I'm in -- I'm in really a hurry.
NIKITA: Sure. So, why are you in such a hurry?
BARRY: Oh, it's a…it’s just been a crazy day. Ah, thank you.
NIKITA: I'm listening.
BARRY: Ah. No, no, it’s – it’s – it’s – it’s just personal stuff and it’s – it’s – it’s not important.
NIKITA: So, how's the kids? Or was that a lie, too?
BARRY: No!
NIKITA: Barry, if you want the box back, why don't you tell me what's going on?
BARRY: What -- what are you talking about?
NIKITA: Barry, what are you doing with half a kilogram of heroin?
BARRY: Look, its -- its not what you thinking. I've never done ... this before. I lost my job, and my family, and if I can just get enough money to get back on my feet, I can get us back together again.
NIKITA: Selling drugs?
BARRY: Yeah, but just -- just this once. Just -- just till I get back on my feet.
NIKITA: Then why am I holding it for you? Hmmm?
BARRY: Okay, I got, I got greedy and I skimmed a little, and -- and I didn't think anybody would notice.
NIKITA: But they did.
BARRY: It doesn't -- it doesn't matter, because I'm just gonna give it back to them now, and that will be the end of it.
NIKITA: That's crap!
BARRY: I guess I was wrong about you. I thought you were my friend.
NIKITA: I am.
BARRY: That's them, okay, I've got to go now.
NIKITA: Hey, guys! We're in here. We got your heroin.
MAN: What's going on, Barry?
BARRY: Yeah, I forgot -- forgot, I left it …in here. Oh, um ... Where is it?
NIKITA: I flushed it down the toilet.
BARRY: Wha ....? She's - she's kidding, right?
NIKITA: No, I'm not. See, a lot of people who sells drugs, sell 'em to kids. They use them; they get addicted.
MAN: Look, lady, I don't know who you are, but you better come up with those bags right now! Okay?
NIKITA: Sure, okay. Put down the gun, please? Barry, will you tell him to put down the gun?
NIKITA: Leave. Leave!
BARRY: What ....?
NIKITA: Pack up your things and go. Now!
BARRY: But -- but, what's gonna happen ....?
NIKITA: Go! Three Five Seven Black. I've been exposed. Send Housekeeping.
GREG'S ROOM
BIRKOFF: I guess you heard. They're letting you go.
GREG: Ho, ho! There's a surprise. Okay, I've eradicated most of the virus. I'm not gonna kill it all till I'm safe.
BIRKOFF: Sure.
GREG: And I suppose I don't have to tell a smart boy like you that if the virus is left unattended it'll come back worse than before.
BIRKOFF: I know, Greg. It's your world, we just live in it.
GREG: You know what? I never thought about it like that, Seymour, but you're probably right. Thanks.
MADELINE'S ROOM
OPERATIONS: You cover story will be that you were kidnapped and later recovered by the FBI.
GREG: Who were the kidnappers?
OPERATIONS: Bulgarian Nationalists.
GREG: That's not bad. Okay, ah, they wanted me to .. ah .. help them develop a system for their Gamma Project, that'll fly with the NSA.
MADELINE: Before we can release you, you'll need to sign several non-disclosure statements, then take a binding oath in the presence of an international officer.
OPERATIONS: You have a problem with that?
GREG: It just depends what's in the statements.
MADELINE: I'm sure if the language is not to your liking, you won't have any difficulty in suggesting alternatives we can both live with.
GREG: Sure, I'd be happy to help you out there, too.
OPERATIONS: Birkoff will be going with you. As soon as you're back home, you'll give him the correction.
GREG: No problemo.
HILLINGER RESIDENCE
RITA HILLINGER: Greg!
GREG: It's okay, Mom. It's okay. I'm right here, okay? Right here.
GREG: Okay. It's so simple when you know what you're doing. That's it.
BIRKOFF: Not yet. Okay, Roberta, it's me. .
BIRKOFF: (via comm) Check out the file N6.BAK.
ROBERTA: Yup, I can read it.
BIRKOFF: And our line to Johannesburg?
ROBERTA: (via comm) We're on.
BIRKOFF: Okay, we're up and running. He's clear. See ya, later.
GREG: Yeah. It's too bad you're stuck here. I could always use another assistant. I'm fine, Mom.
BIRKOFF: Okay, Roberta, it's me, again. I want you to do a warm boot on the entire system.
ROBERTA: (voice) The entire system? If we're not clean, we'll lose too much data.
BIRKOFF: It's the only way we'll know for sure.
ROBERTA: Okay.
GREG: They didn't hurt me or anything. One of them…
ROBERTA: (via comm) We're up and running.
BIRKOFF: Okay, we're done. It paid off.
GREG: What are you guys still doing here?
RITA HILLINGER: You're going with them.
NIKITA: I'm sorry, Greg. You should've listened.
GREG: What are you going to do to me?
NIKITA: We have to take you back.
GREG: For how long? Oh, God. What about my Mom? Where's my Mom?
NIKITA: She won't even know we were here.
GREG: Am I ever going to see her again?
MADELINE'S ROOM
OPERATIONS: Michael just got back from Johannesburg.
MADELINE: And?
OPERATIONS: The location was destroyed. We've brought back hostiles.
MADELINE: What about the hardware?
OPERATIONS: They stripped it. It's being reverse engineered.
MADELINE: Who was behind it?
OPERATIONS: Oh, just another group of insane misfits empowered by technology. Another day at the office?
OPERATIONS: What about Hillinger?
MADELINE: I'm working on an integration program.
OPERATIONS: What's his survival likelihood?
MADELINE: Over 92 percent, actually. He's a surprisingly good match.
NIKITA'S APARTMENT
After working out, Nikita swigs milk from the carton. On the side
is a ‘Missing Child’ notice with Greg’s picture on it.
