Sculptures
Joan is a self taught artist, whose work has been shown during the last twenty-five years in galleries thought out the Pacific Northwest, California and New Mexico. She has shown her work in invitational mask shows, and an exhibit called "Wilde Wilde Womyn and Other Wondrous Creatures."  She has also exhibited in juried craft shows, Saturday and Christmas marketplace in Eugene, Oregon, and participated in a cooperative fine art and craft gallery in Corvallis, Oregon.  Joan and her husband retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas 5 years ago and is currently showing her work at the Black Mesa Winery and Gallery, Velarde, New Mexico, Eurekan Art Studio and Shop in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Poor Richards Art, in Rogers, Arkansas.

Joan works in paper mache and polymer clays, often using both media in one work. Currently she makes masks, small whimsical sculptures and talking sticks.  Every mask, face, and sculpture is formed by hand.  Joan prefers to sculpt her pieces individually rather than making a mold.  The pieces she makes are often mythic in theme and the addition of botanicals, feathers and gem stones gives them an organic feel.
