In addition to using different die cutters for the same puzzles, there is also the problem of "picture alignment".

With an octagon puzzle like this, or a round one, the picture can be rotated 4 ways.

These corners are from two 4031 Spirit of '76 puzzles.
The die cut is the same, but picture is rotated 180 degrees on the second one. With a rectangle puzzle like this, the picture can be rotated 2 ways.
bottom right vs. bottom left
These corners are from two 2056 The American Spirit puzzles.
The die cut is the same, but the picture is rotated 90 degrees right on the second one. With a square puzzle like this, the picture can be rotated 4 ways.
