Scriptures:
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with
truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; {15} And your feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; {16} Above all, taking
the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery
darts of the wicked. {17} And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
(Eph.6:14-17)
|
(Luke 22:31-34 KJV)
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you,
that he may sift you as wheat: {32} But I have prayed for thee, that thy
faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. {33}
And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison,
and to death. {34} And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not
crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
|
(Rom 13:12-14 KJV)
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the
works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. {13} Let us walk
honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering
and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
{14} But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the
flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
|
(Gal 3:1-4 KJV)
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the
truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth,
crucified among you? {2} This only would I learn of you, Received ye the
Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? {3} Are ye so
foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the
flesh? {4} Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet
in vain.
|
(Gal 5:13-26 KJV)
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for
an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. {14} For all the
law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself. {15} But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye
be not consumed one of another.
{16} This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust
f the flesh. {17} For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit
against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye
cannot do the things that ye would. {18} But if ye be led of the Spirit,
ye are not under the law.
{19} Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, {20} Idolatry, witchcraft,
hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, {21}
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the
which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
{22} But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith, {23} Meekness, temperance: against such
there is no law.
{24} And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh
with the affections and lusts. {25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also
walk in the Spirit. {26} Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking
one another, envying one another.
(Gal 6:1-2 KJV)
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual,
restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest
thou also be tempted.
{2} Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
|
(Eph 2:1-6 KJV)
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses
and sins: {2} Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of
this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit
that now worketh in the children of disobedience: {3} Among whom also we
all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh,
fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature
the children of wrath, even as others.
{4} But God, who is rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith he loved us, {5} Even when we were dead in
sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) {6}
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly
places in Christ Jesus:
|
(Eph 4:22-32 KJV)
That ye put off concerning the former conversation the
old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; {23} And be
renewed in the spirit of your mind; {24} And that ye put on the new man,
which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. {25}
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour:
for we are members one of another.
{26} Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
{27} Neither give place to the devil.
{28} Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working
with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him
that needeth. {29} Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace
unto the hearers.
{30} And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the
day of redemption. {31} Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and
clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: {32}
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even
as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
|
(Eph 5:1-20 KJV)
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; {2}
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for
us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
{3} But
fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once
named among you, as becometh saints; {4} Neither filthiness, nor foolish
talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of
thanks.
{5} For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor
covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of
Christ and of God. {6} Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because
of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
{7} Be not ye therefore partakers with them. {8} For ye were sometimes
darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
{9} (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and
truth;) {10} Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
{11} And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but
rather reprove them. {12} For it is a shame even to speak of those things
which are done of them in secret. {13} But all things that are reproved are
made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
{14} Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give thee light.
{15} See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, {16}
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
{17} Wherefore be ye not
unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. {18} And be not
drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; {19}
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing
and making melody in your heart to the Lord; {20} Giving thanks always for
all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ;
|
(Eph 6:10-20 KJV)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and
in the power of his might. {11} Put on the whole armour of God, that ye
may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. {12} For we wrestle
not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places.
{13} Wherefore take unto you the whole armour
of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done
all, to stand.
{14} Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with
truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; {15} And your feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; {16} Above all, taking
the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery
darts of the wicked. {17} And take the helmet of salvation, and the
sword
of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
{18} Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and
watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
{19} And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my
mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, {20} For which I am
an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to
speak.
|
(2 Tim 2:20-26 KJV)
But in a great house there are not only vessels of
gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and
some to dishonour. {21} If a man therefore purge himself from these, he
shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use,
and prepared unto every good work.
{22} Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity,
peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. {23} But
foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender
strifes. {24} And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle
unto all men, apt to teach, patient, {25} In meekness instructing those
that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to
the acknowledging of the truth;
{26} And that they may recover themselves
out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
(2 Tim 3:1-7 KJV):
This know also, that in the last days perilous times
shall come. {2} For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous,
boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
{3} Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good, {4} Traitors, heady, highminded,
lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; {5} Having a form of
godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
{6} For of
this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women
laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, {7} Ever learning, and never
able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
|
(James 4:7-17 KJV)
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee
from you. {8} Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your
hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
{9} Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to
mourning, and your joy to heaviness. {10} Humble yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
{11} Speak not evil one of another,
brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother,
speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law,
thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. {12} There is one lawgiver,
who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
{13}
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city,
and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: {14} Whereas ye
know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a
vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
{15} For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do
this, or that.
{16} But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
{17} Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it
is sin.
|
(1 Pet 1:6-7 KJV)
{6} Wherein ye greatly rejoice,
though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold
temptations: {7} That the trial of your faith, being much more precious
than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found
unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
|
(1 Pet 4:1-5 KJV)
Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves
likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath
ceased from sin; {2} That he no longer should live the rest of his time in
the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
{3} For the time
past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles,
when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings,
banquetings, and abominable idolatries: {4} Wherein they think it strange
that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of
you:
{5} Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the
dead.
|
(1 Pet 4:12-19 KJV)
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the
fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened
unto you: {13} But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's
sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also
with exceeding joy.
{14} If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the
spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil
spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
{15} But let none of you
suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody
in other men's matters. {16} Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him
not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
{17} For the time
is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first
begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel
of God? {18} And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the
ungodly and the sinner appear?
{19} Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit
the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful
Creator.
|
(1 Pet 5:8-11 KJV)
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the
devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: {9}
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are
accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
{10} But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory
by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect,
stablish, strengthen, settle you. {11} To him be glory and dominion for
ever and ever. Amen.
|
(2 Pet 2:1-22 KJV)
But there were false prophets also among the people,
even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring
in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring
upon themselves swift destruction. {2} And many shall follow their
pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken
of. {3} And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make
merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not,
and their damnation slumbereth not.
{4} For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to
hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto
judgment;
{5} And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth
person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world
of the ungodly; {6} And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into
ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto
those that after should live ungodly;
{7} And delivered just Lot, vexed
with the filthy conversation of the wicked: {8} (For that righteous man
dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from
day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
{9} The Lord knoweth how to deliver
the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of
judgment to be punished: {10} But chiefly them that walk after the flesh
in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government.
Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of
dignities. {11} Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might,
bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
{12} But these,
as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of
the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own
corruption; {13} And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they
that count it pleasure to riot in the day time.
Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own
deceivings while they feast with you; {14} Having eyes full of adultery,
and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they
have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
{15} Which have
forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam
the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
{16} But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's
voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
{17} These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a
tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
{18} For when
they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts
of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from
them who live in error. {19} While they promise them liberty, they
themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome,
of the same is he brought in bondage.
{20} For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through
the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again
entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than
the beginning. {21} For it had been better for them not to have known the
way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the
holy commandment delivered unto them. {22} But it is happened unto them
according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again;
and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
|
(Jude 1:3-21 KJV)
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common
salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye
should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the
saints.
{4} For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old
ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God
into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus
Christ.
{5} I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew
this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt,
afterward destroyed them that believed not.
{6} And the angels which kept
not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in
everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. {7}
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner,
giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are
set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
{8} Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion,
and speak evil of dignities. {9} Yet Michael the archangel, when
contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not
bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
{10} But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what
they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt
themselves. {11} Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and
ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the
gainsaying of Core.
{12} These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you,
feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried
about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead,
plucked up by the roots; {13} Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their
own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness
for ever.
{14} And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying,
Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, {15} To execute
judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all
their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their
hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
{16} These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and
their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in
admiration because of advantage.
{17} But, beloved, remember ye the words
which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; {18}
How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who
should walk after their own ungodly lusts. {19} These be they who separate
themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
{20} But ye, beloved, building
up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, {21}
Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord
Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
|
(Rev 12:7-12 KJV)
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the
dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, {8} And prevailed not;
neither was their place found any more in heaven. {9} And the great dragon
was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which
deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels
were cast out with him.
{10} And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and
strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the
accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God
day and night.
{11} And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of
their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
{12} Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the
inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto
you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
