Visit to the Salk Institute |
||
|
Kathleen Murray was Dr. Jonas Salk's assistant for the last 5 years of his life at the Salk Institute. She is currently Assistant to Salk Institute's Nobel Laureates Dr. Francis Crick, Dr. Renato Dulbecco, and Dr. Sydney Brenner. She also assists Dr. Leslie Orgel. I met Kathleen in October 1997 when the History Channel was shooting part of a film on the history of polio at the Salk. On October 12, 2002, she was gracious to give a private tour of the Salk to polio survivors and friends. Kathleen shared both the history of the Salk Institute, the architectural design and insight of Dr. Salk from her personal friendship. I hope you enjoy these photos by Steve Schlesinger.
