It is often
said a writer sets the future in motion and carves the truth from the
flesh of fantasized history. What is
imagined today becomes common place by tomorrow. We certainly may
not be able to hop in to the latest starship
to come off the assembly line and
take a pleasure cruise to Alpha Centauri today, but what about our own
grandchildren? What about our great grandchildren? Unless we,
as the human species manages to go ahead and kill ourselves off and
most likely along with most of the other life on this planet, what
fantastic things are dreamed of
and written today to propel literature into
the future and set science
and hard research on new paths of thinking?
And it's not always about the
future.
What about the past? The distant past? The times before
when there are traces of written or symbolic history written on cave
walls, on the walls lining a tomb, written in the very sediment buried
under layer upon layer of dirt and time? The search for Atlantis
continues even today, and with that search there hav e been
fantastic
discoveries recently unearthed in oceans spanning the globe.
Pictographs found in Mayan writings showing objects that look amazingly
like aircraft of today--one in particular showing what can easily be
described as a man, wearing a helmet, riding an object with many
different levers and foot pedals and broad sweeping flame being shot
from the craft behind him. Typical archeological dogma today
still insists anomalies such as this is nothing short of
meaningless. They also told us once Columbus discovered the New
World of the Americas when we now know with certainty the Vikings were certainly
here centuries before. We all
know the plants used to make cocaine can only grow in very specific
regions of South America and that is an accepted and "proven" fact even
today. I find it amazingly odd that dozens of Egyptian mummies
have been tested and show absolute proof positive a vast majority of
them actually have traces of cocaine in the mummified tissues.
Exactly how far had humanity developed in the eras of antiquity which
modern science tells us humanity
was still defending territory with
weapons no more advanced that the stones on the ground at their
feet--yet we find hidden and very occasional clues humanity may very
well not only dominated the oceans, but some evidence shows perhaps
even the skies were a people's playground during these times that
officially, man kind should only have been worried about killing an
animal to eat that night and then had to worry about making a small
fire out of flint rocks. Is it actually possible our scientists
today could actually be wrong?
There is conclusive evidence which strongly indicates Egyptian writings
at different points within shallow caves and carved into bluffs along
the Mississippi and Arkansas rivers at
many different locations all the way the Arkansas River's very
beginning in
Colorado. There are cave paintings in France which show shapes
bearing incredible similarities of looking exactly
like helicopters in today's use. An object archeologist have
dubbed as a depiction of some mythical bird or some other type of
symbolic tool used in blood sacrifice rituals but strangely enough
looks
exactly like
any number of toy model planes we can purchase at any
hobby supply center modeled after any number of various aircraft in use
to this day. Fiery chariots
coming down from the heaven's and whisking prophets of old away body
and spirit? The old testament of the Bible tells us of instances
where this happened several times in history. The column of fire
leading the Hebrews from Egypt. And can anyone give an accounting
of why, very recently, test results are conclusive in showing traces of
cocaine in many Egyptian mummies on display in various museums world
wide. By itself, this revelation should be impossible by any
current arche ological
believe since the plants cocaine is made from can
grow in only one region of this planet--South America. If you
honestly think about some
of these things, there is no possible way to sit and say people of this
timeline were imaginative enough to simply make up descriptions of
cigar shaped "boats" which whisked groups of people up and away to the
heavens. There is no really conceivable theory on the table by
today's academia to account for the overwhelming evidence of full
communication between all continents during a time very prior to the
fist landings of the Vikings in "The New World". Did you know
certain American Indian tribes have a
written history which tells them their peoples once lived on Mars and
were brought to Earth after a great and terrible war among the
gods? Or, take
one further step into questioning currently taught "fact"--a ceramic
jar was discovered in Iraq containing the simplified workings inside
which are the same methods used in creating batteries today. And
this ancient battery not only predates the actual discovery and
applications of creating electricity by centuries of "recorded actual
history". (Click on "The Musings Of Robert

There are truths in science fiction--especially from writers who create
their stories based on evidence recently uncovered in various dig sites
world wide showing intensive, deliberate, and high order mathematics
and sciences which dispute accepted principals stubbornly clung to by
our actual "leading" scientists today. How is it the Toltecs, the
Aztecs, the Mayans and even ancient Greeks had calendar systems based
on planetary movements of this solar system which are more accurate,
even today, than our best atomic clocks? And finally, how is it
in history when the pyramids were being built in Egypt, Babylon, in
many civilizations and cultures in Europe, Africa and Asia, the same
principal of pyramid construction was
in great use in the American
continents as well and at the same time? These cultures never had
contact with each other right?
Uh huh...

Computers
are how I make my living--but under no circumstance or terms do they
define the person
who I truly am. From day to day, virtually every person's life
is, in some way or other, influenced by computers.
I have
always liked
working with computers and the huge
variety of different software
packages which come with them and I often looked forward to ever
advancing
technologies and seeing what can be
come up with next to propel us
even further into the future.
How
could I possibly love science fiction enough to go so far as to write it if I
didn't find technology
fascinating? How many different things do we now take for granted
in our own every day lives that you can see as actually being "science
fiction" in several short decades of literature, movies and television
in the past? How many times have you watched an original Star
Trek episode that they would use some insane looking instrument to do a
specific task and when it was originally shown those decades ago--it
was fantastic imagination and pure science fiction. Many of those
same things used in those episodes
actually exist in every day life
today.
On the othe r hand,
there is a very fine line in appreciating a thing,
and liking a thing and actually becoming completely dependent on that
thing and this is simply something I will not do.
You may have
noticed in the previous paragraph I used the past tense a lot when
talking about computers and every chang ing
technology. In
very
recent times I find myself growing more intolerant of certain
technologies which therefore, has landed me squarely in the jaws of an
ever growing personal conundrum. How could I have
spent my entire
college history and beyond that, my entire working career sitting
on
the precipice of the birth and rise of the computer age and now find
myself (much to the dismay of anyone who knew me well in
the past) so
entirely obstinate of staying on top of the surfboard and riding the
ever plowing waves of newer, faster and consuming technology? A
personal rebellion? Given my emotional disposition a personally
rebellion is certainly not beyond the realm of
possibility and most
people in my life most likely would say this is more than just a small
possibility. I've certainly risen out of the ranks of many
socially imperative mind-sets on any variety of topics in the past and
suddenly started rattling sabers of discontent toward the social
norms. When I was living in Chicago and teaching, and finding
myself suddenly completely immersed in the reality that no matter how
much I may have traveled in the pas,
no matter how many different
cities and areas I had visited and no matter how many hotels and
airports I found myself living in for so many years--for the first time
I had actually moved into a city which I immediately discovered I was
ill prepared for and just because you blow through a cities airport
often does not mean in any sense of the word, that it makes you ready
to actually live in what may as well be a completely different planet
from the comfortable southern mountain area I had grown up in back
in
Arkansas. It was never made more
clear to me than when a group of
student's in a class I was teaching laughed at something I said which
was not meant in any sense of the word to have been humorous, and asked
me if this is what it meant by the saying of "dug in like a tic on the
ass-end of a coon dog". Stunned? Well, that wording doesn't
really apply to my immediate reaction. I laughed until tears came
to my eyes before relinquishing to the point they were making--I may be
teaching networking fundamentals, but following many of those lessons
by adding "which is something else probably developed by
carpet-baggers" certainly gave away the birth of a very personal
revolutionary way of my own thinking--I was quickly getting very
tired of merely trying to "keep up" with all the latest
and greatest technology and I was needing to find a new balance and
much lower key way of living the rest of my life. Computers and
an abundance of ever evolving technologies certainly have valid and
necessary purpose, especially in
today's society which is becoming ever more increasingly dependent of
these machines. But computers are not now, nor will they ever be,
replacements for the actual human mind.
Science
Fiction is not something completely speculative for most writers in
this genre. For some of us, we rely on what is still possible, as
well as what must have been possible at other points in time and this
provides a fountain from which to draw upon even further
speculation. What happened in humanities history which must have
been so cataclysmic as to sling
humanity back into the stone age to start completely over again?
Some
day, science fiction will be my living. Having lived in Arkansas
my entire life, I have found myself hanging on every story, every tale
which is spun from the legends of the hills and the mountains
surrounding me. It was only natural, it seems, that I would find myself
creating more stories for persons who believe that with every twist of
a good plot, the unexpected is certain to happen. Writing and
selling short stories as well as articles and editorials on various
other topics (not science fiction based) has helped me broaden my own
writing and has opened many doors to publication avenues I had never
anticipated before. I love writing articles and editorials to
sell to various magazines across the world. I have learned so
much from the research I've done to write these articles.
Why
did I choose Science Fiction as the foundation for which I build
upon my imagination? For me, the answer is simple. The Greatest of the
Unknown. The mystery which shrouds our lives everyday. The always asked
question--are we alone in the universe? Like any other writer, my
ultimate goal is to gain world wide publication. Why? It's not for the
money, nor fame, nor glory of being in the spotlight. It's more to
bring my work to you, the reader, to help you understand that with
science fiction, it's not the lasers and weapons used in space
exploration of movies and television
shows which is what will drive our future. It's the unknown. Every
single one of us is an
explorer at heart. We all want to go just a little bit further
into
that house at the corner of the street which is supposed to be haunted.
We all want to dig just a bit further in the attic to find some lost
treasure or memento of affection long forgotten. We are all
intensely curious at heart. So that is what my writing is about,
bringing new possibilities into our imaginations. This above all is
something to strive for which is larger than we feel we can obtain in
the here and now.
Where
would humanity be today without the imagination and creativity of
others? As a novelist, these are the things I look for each and every
day. I
hope you are enjoying this site, and I hope you have some of the
same dreams as I. I have included a section in this website where
I have posted samples of my written works for you to
view freely and I
truly hope you enjoy these if you choose to read them.

I am
also an artist and pur sue
the creation and my personal internal
outlets in the mediums of photography, sketching, painting in oils,
ceramics,
interior decorating,
computer graphics (all pictures,
icons and
banners
in this site are my sole creations and you can see examples of these
throughout this website) and especially (at least more
recently) in the art of painted stained glass.
The creation of
artistic work for me seems as much a natural part of me as
breathing. When I began learning the art of painted stained
glass, I relied heavily at first on pre-printed patterns created by
various other artists. Soon enough, however, I realized using
another artist's patterns was doing nothing more for me than denying my
own creativity and soon I started feeling suffocated by mimicking other
artist's visions. I then began
designing and creating my own works from the actual start to the very
end and have developed several of my own techniques which I use to gain
more light refraction to enhance the finished projects. To jump
directly to my online photo gallery containing many of the different
artsworks I have created for both myself and clients, you can use
the "Photo" button in the top menu or you can also click the "Storm

Currently I live in the
city of Springdale, nestled in the scenic mountains of Northwest
Arkansas and centered in one of the most prominent places in the state
where you can find writers and artists throughout the area. My
lifetime partner, David, and I love living and being a part of the
communities of this area and would love to continue to be a part of
this area for the rest of our lives. We have a nice, three
bedroom home with four cats, three
fish, and a never ending circle of visits from every stray animal
running outside of our home. Additionally we have a pretty
constant stream of wild animals such as squirrels, opossums,
deer and racoons dropping by for a visit. One particular squirrel
who has chosen to nest and live in one of our trees has made a
particular impact on us--since during a very recent time while it was
still young, a couple of
neighborhood cats chased him and he managed to cram his way in between
our storm door and main door, creating a lot of noise not commonly
heard. When I opened the door, into the house he came. That
tale is a whole other story and not one for this
particular section of this website but rest assured, you'll be able to
see that someday very soon in the selections of my short stories I will
post in this site.
David and I both
work
for one of the largest media communications companies in the United
States as
technical support representatives. When David isn't working, he
can usually be found in our home office wrapped in his own hobby of
online
gaming and Everquest. His own interests are as widely spread out
as my own and he's one of the most caring and charitable persons you
could ever meet. David has become my rock of strength--especially
in the most recent times as I have been ill and he has remained
steadfast in being beside me through ever step of the process to my
recovery. He is my soul mate and for the first time in my
life I have truly discovered how truly wonderful life is in finding the
person you know you are meant to spend this life time with. His
love of nature and his personal religious practices
have given me unique perspectives and new ways of observing all the
many
wonders our world possesses. We are so much
more than "partners" in life and the simple fact of the matter is I
can't imagine my life any longer without having him in it. Soon,
I hope to bring additional pages to this website which he will create
himself to bring more of his own life and interests to the surface.
My mother is also a n accomplished author herself. Several
years ago
she underwent advanced surgery to her lower back and had to spend a
great deal of time trapped in a single room of her house during her
recovery process. She couldn't ride in a vehicle or do any
walking more than a very few feet at a time and even this was limited
to still being in her house. Naturally, after a couple of weeks
of this and knowing several months of this was still looming ahead of
her, she started getting somewhat depressed and was so completely
bored and restless with her limited life where she had to stay in bed,
it dawned on me she had many incredible stories of her
growing up "on the farm" and also stories she had been told by her
father and grandfather of different mountain folklore which she found
absolutely fascinating. I thought at the time, perhaps giving
her the ability to begin writing these stories could be a very good way
to take the depression she was falling into away. I sat up a
computer for her directly by her bedside where she could easily see the
monitor and use the serving table she normally used to hold her plate
and glass when she ate. After adjusting that table a bit for her,
we managed to get it to where she could type comfortably with little
strain on her muscles and back. It took some convincing to get
her started because she couldn't believe anyone would actually be
interested in the stories she had of these folklores, but I finally
convinced her that even if she didn't write the stories passed down to
her through the generations, her imagination itself was more than
capable for her to write her own stories and allow her to travel with
the progression of the life of the characters she created. Once
she was convinced herself that neither the computer nor the keyboard
and
mouse couldn't acutally bite her, and then once I convinced her that
even if she made a mistake on the computer and she would get typical
errors and only requiring her to reboot the computer--and she wasn't
actually breaking it--she began taking off.
She
created many short stories. With each page
she
typed, her writing abilities started developing a life all their own
and soon en ough, she began becoming captivated by all the
many "movies"
she was watching with her imagination
and transposing to typed
text. And soon after that, I finally convinced her to actually
begin submitting her stories to different publishing centers such as
printed magazines and Ezines. Rather quickly, she
began receiving acceptance letters for publication.
After
mastering the ability to spin a captivating short story, she finally
had the nerve to get really serious about her writing and began her
first novel. She titled the novel "Children of the
Mountain" and when
completed, she began marketing this as well to different publishing
houses. When she got her letter from one particular publisher
expressing interest in pursuing a writing contract with her for this
novel--she crossed the greatest hurdle every writer strives for.
She had landed her publishing contract and the publisher kept about 95%
of her actual story and changed
very little on this as happens so often
with other writers and publishers. The only thing the publisher
actually "strongly advised" her to change was the title of the book
itself. Being replaced by "Redemption
of Quapaw Mountain" we all actually agreed that although the
first title was actually insightful, the second title she agreed upon
with the publishing house only added to the mystique of the words of
the novel.
"Redemption of
Quapaw Mountain" is still available for sale through
various book retail stores and seller's web sites including Amazon
Books, Barnes and Nobel amd Hastings. If you would like to read
the book teaser and consider buying the book itself, you can do so by
clicking on the book cover graphic immediately above and soon enough,
you would have a truly wonderful story in your hands to enjoy.
