Lots of changes on campus.
Only white belts got to wear midnights when I was in the Corps...
We were there, front row, for the Bonfire Memorial Dedication.
The last Corps Trip, etched in granite.
There's a granite block for each year of the Bonfire, the first is labeled 1909 when the tradition began. Bobby counted from there, the ring at the end is for 1999. The 11th 12th has a notch cut out to signify November, when bonfire was held every year. A bronze plaque marks 1963, when the bonfire was dismantled in honor of JFK's death. Bronze plaques inside the notch of 2 years along the way mark when students died while building the bonfire.
There are 12 portholes, one personalized for each student that died in the 1999 accident.
Each porthole radiates from the centerpole location to the student's hometown.
This tree was moved to the North/South path to the circle. It looks like 3 or 4 trees that have grown together into one.
