2002 San Diego Midnight Madness

Some old guy with a recumbent, not the oldest one there. Guy behind him had a big wooden ship's wheel on the handlebars.

Bike car with a huge American flag. I should have turned off my flash for the photo, it looked really good.

Mermaid woman and neon bike guy. They are on last years webpage too.

5 CHICAS with tiki torches. Were they lit during the ride???
Those grass skirts would have been pretty hazardous if so...

The guy on the back of the tandem needs to eat more...

Self parking at the finish. Erica and Meredith talked the whole way. Note the searchlight on the handlebars, it was plugged into the 12 volt system on the pedicab, just like a car headlight.

Tooting my own horn!

All made possible by Miles of www.coronadopedicab.com. He got the pedicab from some guy that owed him some money, its the only one he has like it (made by Frankie), and its for sale. It's just like the one I rented in 2001, except no shade.

Much harder to pull 2 people than 1, but Erica did get off and push to help me get started when I shifted off the sprocket going up the big hill in Old Town. This year I had two people help by riding along and pushing going up that hill. Thanks again whoever you are!

Thanks to Donn and Tonya for letting me use their trailer, to haul the trailer to the ride (too big for the back of the minivan). They rode with us for a while with little Johnny in his kid trailer as well as Crazy Betsy, Joel "The Rock", Hal, Katherine, her brother, my right hand man Joe (He's the other guy in this photo) and Drew.

All in all not as crazy as last year's ride. We didn't even stick around for the costume contest at 2:30, but still
A LOT OF FUN.
Frankie was my first choice to rent from, but he said he would be riding in it. Did anyone see him? I didn't...
