Meredith has Multiple Sclerosis, and there's not a whole lot I can do about it. One thing I can do, is raise money for the National M.S. Society. Every year they have a 2 day bicycling event to raise money for research and local support. I have participated since 1991 as outlined below.

1991    1992   1993    1994   1995    1996   1997    1998   1999    2000    2001    2002    2003    2004    2005    2006    2007    2008
(Rider number is based on the amount raised the previous year. Last year's standings :here)

I got really lost.  The Motorcycle Amateur Radio Club (MARC) volunteers  found me and got me back on track.  I was dead last for awhile after that.  I stayed in the worst motel.  Water leaked through the bathroom ceiling and there was a rat in the room, making noise and stealing my Cheese balls (I earned it!) Next year I might camp out.

Raised: $1,325.00

1999 Bay to Bay Bike Tour  Rider # 39 (It goes by the amount raised last years, competion is picking up)

October 9 & 10
They didn't call this year's ride "I'm going to ride like it's 1999", but I was.  The last century ride of the century!  A lot like last year's, maybe that's why I didn't get lost.  I had a first floor corner room at the hotel where all the festivities were, so I got to listen to the band play all night.  I got brand new tires for the ride, just to be safe.  Turns out one of them had a cut in it, so I got a free (used) one from one of the volunteer mechanics.  Finished the ride with no flats or mechanical problems at all.  I took the tire back to Holland's bike store and they gave me another one.  Click here for more details about the ride.

Raised: $2,840.00

2002 Bay to Bay Bike Tour  Rider # 80

October 5 & 6
I wasn't really into it this year, I didn't even bring my camera. Ron and Reina from my Church did the ride. We met half a dozen times over the weekend. I think they were stalking me...

That was really neat, maybe I'll try to recruit more people to do the ride next year. The ride itself was awesome. Between all the sports drinks and glucosamine/chondroitin, I probably had my fastest and strongest ride. While I was away, Meredith blew a fuse in her electric wheelchair Saturday night when the up/down joystick hit the counter in the bathroom. It raised itself, broke the switch, blew a fuse and stranded her there. Bobby responded better than any trained monkey ever could, and I fixed it when I got home on Sunday.

Raised: $2,365.00
