Here's my second try at photographing Mars. Having the the JaZ Observatory operational has made it much easier to use Mira, my Lurie-Houghton telescope, for activities such as this. I used the same optical configuration as for my first Mars photograph taken eight days earlier. The south polar ice cap is plainly visible along with the various dark surface markings. It wasn't possible for amateur astronomers to make images such as this only a few years prior to taking these. Photograph by Rick Scott.
