Welcome to Starsen Chihuahuas! My name is Stacey Amirov. I was born, raised and continue to live in beautiful Newport, R.I. with my husband Arsen and our family of chihuahuas. Throughout the 1990's I worked as an animal care technician at the local animal shelter, a pet food salesperson and as a veterinary technician at a busy animal hospital. I have more recently worked as a professional dog groomer and have been researching canine nutrition for the last 12 years. I got my first pet chihuahua, "Happy", in 1996. Health is very important to me and all of my breeding stock are tested and registered with OFA for hearts and patellas and CERF for eyes. I also choose to participate in the Canine Health Information Center registry by submitting all of my dogs' test results into their centralized data base in hopes of helping other breeders to improve the overall health of our breed. My goal is to breed a limited number of outstanding examples of this breed for the show ring, but I also occasionally have pets available on a spay/neuter contract. Because I breed on such a small scale, I am able to provide my puppies with extensive socialization and early training. I am also able to be very selective about the homes I place them in. My dogs are registered with AKC- not ACA, CKC (Continental Kennel Club), APRI or other meaningless registries commonly used by puppy millers and/or backyard breeders. I do not breed "deer type" chihuahuas or "teacups" because there is no such thing according to the AKC standard. My lines are merle free. I am a proud member of the The Chihuahua Club of America, the Health Related Issues Committee of the Chihuahua Club of America, The Classic Toy Dog Club of Western Massachusetts, The Hudson Valley Chihuahua Club and The Heart of New England Chihuahua Club. I acquired my first show dog and foundation bitch in December 2005. Her name is Cam's Lucille's a Ball of Starsen (aka Lucy- see My Girls). Lucy had some nice specialty placements during her show career and is known for her beautiful movement, topline, tailset, pretty head and expression and gorgeous front assembly. Lucy produced three champions in her first litter! All three received placements at the Chihuahua Club of America's national specialty show in Chicago 2007, under three different judges. One from the 6-9 bitch class, another from the 6-9 puppy dog sweeps and the third from the sanctioned puppy match. They have consistent outstanding breed type and temperament. We are truly lucky to have such a wonderful bitch as our foundation and are very thankful to Junko Guichon for letting us use her top producing male, Ch Guichon's Besame Mucho. In February 2008 I added a new addition to my foundation- a beautiful bitch from Sweet Indeed Kennels in Italy. She has the structure, movement, breed type and temperament that is so important to me in choosing the foundation upon which I will build my future lines. Tyra is simply a dream come true!! I handle for others on a limited basis- here is my girl I am currently showing for Lisa Johns of Trinity Chihuahuas. She has the most beautiful movement and is a joy to show! My dogs are fed all natural and holistic dry foods along with balanced home-cooked diets based on the 2006 National Research Council's Nutrient Requirements of Dogs and Cats. In addition to being fed natural diets, our dogs and puppies are on limited vaccination schedules. Feel free to email (starsen@cox.net) me with any questions about my dogs or puppies, nutrition, vaccinations, chihuahua health and behavioral issues, etc. I'm always happy to help educate any chihuahua owner or owner-to-be!
