:: CSBowling Clinic Document: How to Pick up the Evil 10 Pin ::
|
Well for right handers its the 10 pin for left handers, its the 7. It rather simple really, but hard to physically do. Most hook bowlers try to hook the ball trying to pick up the 10(or 7) pin. That's the incorrect way to pick it up. What you have to do to master this challenge is, for right handers, stand all the way left. May also help to step up some to decrease fliping in the ball if you have the problem. It helps if you align your feet towards the 10/7 pin, and aim straight for it. So when you go for your realease, you just throw a simple staright ball. Do not cock your wirst, and decrease rev's. Don't put any hook on it, youll be making the ball turn away from the pin, that's one thing you dont want to do. Some people throw the ball staight and hard at it, or a medium speed at it. And the guy's that do it the worng way will hook the ball going for the 10 pin. I see it a lot, dosn't suprize me any more when I see it happen. This is a very difficult pin to pick up and does take a lot of practice. Once you reach your fustration point, go get your dad's 22 gauage, and that might work(the rednecks often do this). Don't feel ashamed if you can't pick up the 10/7 pin. Just keep trying at it untill you get that hang of it. But the most important thing to keep in mind is roll a straight ball right at the 10/7 pin.
