:: CSBowling Clinic Document: Finger Movement ::
In this document, we will teach you about finger movement/adjustments, and how they affect the amount of hook on the ball.

Instead of switching balls, or whatever the adjustment might be regarding more hook or less hook, all you need to do is adjust your fingers.

You might see some people bowl with there pinkys "tucked". What does this do? Its gets the pinky out of the way to create more hook. This is the first thing youll need to try.

The pinky tucking will take some time to get use too. If it hurts, then skip that step and go on.

To create the most hook, tuck your pinky(or move your pinky close to your ring finger), and spread your index finger as far from the middle finger as possible.

Now to decrease hook, move your index finger as close to your middle finger as possible. You could also untuck your pinky to decrease the amount of hook.

You will see a lot of PBA bowlers do this on TV. This is an easy way to control the amount of hook on your ball without adjusting speed, release, ball, or a line change. The pinky tucking is not estential in creating more hook. If it hurts to tuck the pinky, move it as close to your ring finger as possible; you should get the same results.

Here are some examples of PBA players who use the Finger Movements:
