:: CSBowling Clinic Document: Being Square Isn't Always a Good Thing ::
The classic instruction for delivering a ball is to walk straight toward the foul line with your shoulders "square" or parallel.

But when the lanes get dry, you need to play a much deeper angle. And by keeping your shoulders square is not going to work.

In order to play a deeper line, you must open your shoulders to play the deeper line.

The key to this is keeping your arm swing in line. Your footwork can stay the same. The only thing that changes is from the waist up.

It's not that hard. Just keep in mind to keep your foot work the same, and moving your upper body. If your right handed, make it so your left shoulder is facing the pins. This is used to get the ball to go deeper down the lane. This can also be used to get more revs. Refer to the clinic document "Adding More Hook to Your Game."
