It must weigh between three pounds six ounces and three pounds ten ounces, and must be fifteen inches high and fifteen inches in circumference at its broadest point. Pin in - This is a ball that has the pin and center of gravity within 2 inches of each other. Pin out - This is a ball that has the pin and CG 3 inches or more from each other. Pitch - The appropriate angle for the holes in a bowling ball to be drilled. Positive axis point (PAP) - The desired point on the bowling ball which serves as the axis of rotation after release. The bowler's style determines this location. It is measured from the center of the grip over a distance along the midline and up a distance along the mid plane (vertical axis line).
