Radius of gyration (RG) - This is a measurement of the effective weight distribution in a ball as it relates to the moment of inertia. It essentially is an indication of the resistance to rotation motion. It is equal to the square root of the moment of inertia divided by the weight. Reactive Resin Balls - Balls made of advanced urethane. Resurface - A maintenance procedure to preserve a center's lanes, by removing the finish, repairing the barren wood, and recoating the finish. Reverse Block - A lane condition pattern with more oil on the outside boards then on the middle boards. This makes for a low scoring condition. The ball will not hook on the outside boards because of the heavy oil, and it will hook too much on the middle boards because of the reduced amount of oil. Revolutions (Revs) - Number of complete 360 degree turns it takes a bowling ball to complete in order to get from release to contact. Roll Out - The term used when the ball has lost energy or is hitting the pins with no force. Runway - The approach. |
