Scalp Lesions Update 7/31/02
Ben has several scalp lesions that, now that they have aged, appear to look like JXG lesions (see pictures below). We have not been treating the scalp lesions in any way specifically. We are hoping the chemo will impact them. When getting Methotrexate in the hospital, we noted that Ben's lesions got extremely read around the base. We do not know if this means the chemo is having an impact or not.We went through all of our pictures, and the first one we could find with the dime size red spots was on 3/25, 11 days before we went to the hospital. We believe that the side one (small blue circle) appeared sometime in February. It looked like a small brown / tan birthmark or bruise.

Here are some recent photos of the lesions. You can see that they are getting more numerous and redder in color.

7/20/02 - Ben has about 17 lesions total - three on his forehead near is eyes, one on his arm and 13 on his scalp. The lesions continue to become more raised, yellow and waxy. He has about 7 that are full yellow raised lesions with red bases. Most are dime size. This is in contrast to the very small, flat, light pink and hard to notice lesions that we present when we went into the hospital.
In this picture you can see how they have yellow centers and are raised. The red bases are also very apparent.
