When we started making these, it was to help our 5th graders (at the time) to earn extra money for a class trip to Washington DC. We, as parents and grandparents were, to be honest, tired of the overpriced wrapping paper and the candies that the kids were selling every time we turned around. Just what we needed, more stuff to stick in a closet or something else that was fattening right?? As it happened, I had misplaced all my regular bookmarks and had "made one" real quick out of a pretty piece of light cardboard. Grandma saw that and it snowballed from there. We had a laminating machine (I was making ID cards for the kids for their trip) and the creative ideas started literally flying all over the house! It got to the point that the other grandchildren wanted to help make some of our designs also. And theirs are included on our design page. What we've come up with, is a bookmark that actually holds the page you're reading. Being an avid book-reader myself (I usually have 3 or 4 different books I'm reading at once), they have been invaluable when one of our little people "helps" and brings me one of my books (usually carried by a cover or a couple of pages from the middle of the book). With these, I've never lost my place in any of them!
