Other Information
This will be just a general information page in Q&A format to answer some of the questions that I am typically asked by folks who visit the site.
Q: Did you create this site yourself?
A: Yes I did. My Internet service (Cox) provides the personal webspace and I use a program called "CuteSite Builder" to create, maintain, and publish the website. It is very simple to use and can be found on the Internet.
Q: Where did you get the chip scans on your wanted pages if you don't have the chips?
A: I asked on thechipboard.com if anyone had scans that I could use for this purpose and received more than a dozen responses from members granting me permission to use their scans. Once given permission, copying images from another site is very easy by simply right clicking on the image and saving it to your PC. All images on this site that weren't created by me are used with permission.
Q: Some of the pages do not appear correctly for me, why?
This is a common Internet problem. My site is created for use with Internet Explorer and a large monitor using a high screen resolution. Different browsers, low screen resolutions, or small monitors may distort the pages, mess up tags, descriptions, or labels.
Q: Why do you use so many images that take a long time to load?
I use a program called "PhotoResizer" to reduce even the large images you see to the size of most "thumbnail" images. This results in a total site size of less than 5 megs despite all the graphics!!
Even dial-up users should find the page load times acceptable and high speed access users should have no problems at all.
 Q: How do I trade?
This was the big question I had when I first started out. Many folks list chips that they have for trade but don't tell you what they need or just the opposite.
I have tried to make trading as easy as possible with this site. I have a very extensive Other Chips Wanted! page and a Chips for Trade page so that it is really easy to determine if I have something you need and visa versa. If you think we can make a trade, simply send an e-mail to stu2j@yahoo.com and make me an offer. Generally, current issue chips will trade at face value.
Q: How do I get traders?
The best way to get traders is to simply make a trip to a casino area and buy them at face. If this isn't possible, club members who live in casino areas may be willing to send you current chips at face plus postage to help you get started. If you are a new club member, there are lots of members who are willing to help if you ask. In the alternative, many chip "sets" are sold on ebay at very reasonable prices (at or just above face value) and these can be acquired for traders.
Q: You have several chips that I need but I only have one casino near me and few traders, what now?
Make an offer! I may need traders from that casino near you. I will gladly trade for several of the same chip if they are from an obscure casino and I think the chips would make good traders.
Q: What does "OBS / Collector" mean?
I consider any chip that isn't current issue (what you would expect to be handed to you at a table in the casino) to be an obsolete and/or collector chip.
Q: You have an obsolete chip listed that I want, how do I know what to trade for it?
This is where it gets kind of tricky and you have to be somewhat creative. If you want to trade current issues for obsolete chips, be prepared to "sweeten the deal" to make the trade. Make an offer of 2 for 1, 3 for 2, etc. to facilitate the trade. If I have a $1 chip listed with a sale price of $10, this does not mean you have to offer 10 $1 chips. How many you should offer will vary from trade to trade.
