Tunica Information
The Tunica casinos are actually in Robinsonville, MS within Tunica County. Most people refer to the casino area as Tunica rather than by Robinsonville and all of the chips say Tunica except the Gold Strike which says Robinsonville.
The following is a map of the Tunica area. Please note that the casino area was designed to be along the Mississippi River (riverboat gambling). This prevented creating the "strip" atmosphere that is found in areas such as Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Basically, the casinos are in a very rural area surrounded by cotton fields and are pretty isolated from any metropolitan area.
There are currently two groups of three casinos and another three casinos that are set off by themselves for a total of nine casinos in the Tunica area.
The first group (3,7,10) the Gold Strike, the Horseshoe, and the Sheraton are all within easy walking distance of each other. The second group (5,6,8) Resorts, Hollywood, and Sam's Town are together but while you can walk between Resorts and Hollywood, Sam's Town is a pretty good distance away.
The final three (1) Bally's, (2) Fitzgeralds, and (4) The Grand are set off by themselves and not within walking distance of another casino.
You can travel to all of the casinos via a shuttle service that costs only $1. The area is currently served by the Memphis airport which is about 30 minutes away.
The casinos are pretty diverse and if you like elegance, you might prefer staying at the Gold Strike while if you prefer a rustic "down home" theme you might prefer Bally's or Sam's Town. Hollywood has an obvious theme and Fitzgeralds has the luck of Irish.
I have visited all of the Tunica casinos and have stayed at the Hollywood, Gold Strike, and Sam's Town Hotels. Tunica is a shining example of southern hospitality and if you have any questions regarding the Tunica area, I would be happy to try and assist you.
Enjoy!
