Meeting Minutes

Participants:

Lance Paston, Deanna Yates, Candace Sanchez, Kathy Terrado, Debbie Aran-Lopez, Therese Cortez, Teresa Church, David Bautista

Items Discussed:

1) Date for reunion selected: Saturday, November 10, 2007

2) Possible fundraisers:

a. Jack in the Box Taste Testing, 75 participants required, must be age 18 or over

b. Food Stand at the Lemon Grove Little League Opening Day, March 2007. Contact David Doane, he’s the Lemon Grove Little League president.

c. Sponsor table sales and web advertising

d. Auction donated items

e. Applebees, percentage of sales

3) Committee assignments were made. See the Main Page for the assignments. A treasurer needs to be selected. Teresa Church will ask Sissy DeBaca Miller if she would like to be our treasurer.

4) Each committee member will try and recruit one person for the committee before the next meeting.

5) $10 reunion fee required for reunion administrative costs. We still need to figure out how to bill and collect this fee.

6) Several committee members attended the Class of ’80 reunion. The following was noted:

a. It was held at the Barona Valley Ranch and Resort on November 4, 2006.

b. They invited and paid for the following teachers and their guests: Mr. Goygochea, Mr. Yamashiro, Ms. Guiterrez-Garcia, and Mr. Simonds.

c. They auctioned off baskets filled with donated items.

d. They hired Eric Olaes as their photographer and he charged reasonable rates for his photo packages.

e. They collected digital pictures from many of the attendees with a laptop they brought. These were to be used for a memory book available in 2007.

f. They provided a memory slide show that was displayed throughout the night.

Items Discussed:

1) Hurray! Sissy DeBaca Miller has accepted the position of Treasurer and also the Fund raising committee. Sissy will be opening a bank account and a P. O. Box in Chula Vista. She will be contacting Lance for the tax id #.

2) Kathy and Candace presented the locations and we came to the realization that we need to have money before even selecting a date.

3) Class of 1980 spent one year collecting dues and fund raising.

4) Estimated cost for ticket was discussed $75.00.

5) Date for the reunion is now scheduled for Spring 2008.

6) Everyone will be putting his or her efforts into fund raising.

7) Sissy had great ideas with dinners at the American Legion Hall in National City and a Casino night. Debbie suggested Easter Sees candies sales, Candace is checking other places Pat & Oscars, Chilies, Apple Bees, etc. Teresa Pampered Chef party or Party Light (but might not be cost effective since their items are pretty pricey), David is setting up the March 17th or 24th Baseball opening day barbecue to sell chicken and rice bowls (everyone start calling friends to be available to come volunteer). Future plans for the August Suhi picnic sell hamburger, hot dogs, chips & soda.

8) Other people to add to the committee Nancy Glasco, Gloria Montes de Oca, Emma calling David Soliven.

10)Next meeting will be Saturday, February 17th at 12:00 p.m. in National City at Napoleons on National City Blvd., where we met in December.
