Week-ends in October 2007 Ms Koppelman is one of the pioneers in the Suzuki piano method. She has been teaching Suzuki piano teachers and students throughout the world for more than 30 years. She is the author of the book “Introducing Suzuki Piano” and is a registered Suzuki teacher trainer. Ms. Koppelman is the recipient  of the SAA Outstanding Teacher Award and Distinguished Service Award and has been awarded Honorary Life Membership by the International Suzuki Association. She is a contributor to the recently published “Teaching Suzuki Piano”. She is presently a member of the SAA Teacher Development Committee. She gives lectures, demonstrations and courses in many parts of the world.

Here is the information about the Book 1 class:

The course consists of 28 hours of class time plus 15 hours of observation of actual lessons. During the class time we will play and discuss the teaching points involved in all the pieces in Book 1, how to develop musicality and a fine technic from the very beginning, how to set up your studio, parent education and other matters involved in Suzuki teaching. The classes and observations will take place in her studio at 8565 Hudson Drive, San Diego 92119. A week-end schedule that will be most convenient for the participants will be worked out. For the 15 hours of observation, participants will receive a schedule of  her students' lessons and can arrange their own observations from that.

The Every Child Can course is a pre-requisite for this course. In order to register this course with the Suzuki Association (SAA) the teacher needs to send a videotape of herself playing the first movement of the Beethoven Sonata in Book 4 (Op. 49#2) and Minuet 1 from the Bach Partita in Bb (also in Book 4) to the SAA no later than 6 weeks after taking the course.

The cost depends on the number of people taking the course. Registration is limited to 15.

Would you prefer Saturdays or Sundays? Both? AM and PM? AM or PM? Are Friday afternoons or evenings available?

Please let her know as soon as possible.
