BELLEVUE SWIM CLUB ______________________________________ NOVICE GROUP Cudas
Grade K - 6 (age 6 -12), must be able to swim 1 length of the pool. Novice group with 100% emphasis on technique, primarily long axis strokes (freestyle & backstroke) with introduction of skills needed to develop short axis strokes (butterfly and breaststroke). Training designed around the swimmer's physical motor skills and maturity level Train 45 minutes, 2/3 x wk. Goals: to develop legal freestyle and backstroke and have an understanding of short axis strokes in order to move into the Silver group DEVELOPMENTAL AGE GROUPS Silver
Grade 2-6 (age 7 -12), must have long axis strokes (freestyle &
backstroke). This group is 90% technique and continues to develop all
four strokes, starts, turns and finishes. Throughout the Gold
Grade 3 -6 (age 8 -12) have 4 legal strokes and times in the 10 & under
B/BB range. 75% - 90% emphasis on technique and stroke development.
Increasing emphasis on yardage and endurance needed for competition at
that the Division I level. Dryland activities: stretch cords, stretching
and goal setting. Train 75 - 90 minutes, 4/5 x wk. Two-a-days in the
summer. Goals:
continue to improve technique and increase yardage and achieve 10 &
under A times in order to move up to the elite group.
Junior
Grade 7 - 12 - This is a sub group of Elite designed for the student who does not have strong stoke technique or the ability to train with their peers. However, it is more appropriate that they are in a group of their peers with similar physical and emotional levels. Train 75 - 90 minutes, 4 - 5 x wk. Two-a-days in the summer. Goals: to develop skills that would allow them to move into the Elite or Senior group. COMPETITIVE GROUPS Elite
Grade 5-8 (age 10-14) This group is for those
swimmers that have several 10 & under A times. Continuing stroke
development with an emphasis on refinement of technique and an
increasing emphasis on training. Swimmers should develop an
understanding of training systems and goal setting. Dryland activities:
stretch cords, stretching, light weights. Train 90 - 120 minutes 5+x wk.
Goals: DI
times and to develop training skills that allow them to move up and
train with the Senior group at the beginning of long course season of
their 8* grade year.
Senior/High School Swimmer
Grade 9-12 plus 13/14 year-old swimmers with AA or Senior Sectional times. Eighth grade swimmers move into this group at the beginning of long course season of their 8* grade year. (College swimmers are a part of this group when home for holidays and summer break.) Strong emphasis on training to be competitive^ the State, Sectional and National levels. Swimmers need to develop an understanding of the different energy systems and how you train them. Continue to refine stroke technique. Dryland activities: stretch cords, stretching, light weights. Train 120 minutes 5 - 10 X wk with two a days in the summer. Goals: be competitive at the LSC DI, State High School, Sectional & National levels. To develop skills that will allow them to compete at the college level if they wish to continue swimming after high school. ___________________________________________
