Swiss Rifle Model K31 Carbine Information
If you have had a chance to browse through some of the photos of my Curio & Relic firearms (http://members.cox.net/cruffler) you would no doubt have noticed that I like the Swiss K-31 rifle. The K-31 was the first rifle that I bought using my C&R FFL. At first I was intrigued with the straight pull design, it was like nothing I had ever seen. I have also found out that it's probably one of the most accurate of the C&R rifles. I believe this accuracy is due to a few different factors. The first being the quality of workmanship on these rifles. The attention to detail is readily apparent, almost every part seems to have an acceptance stamp on it! Another factor is the condition of the barrels. The 7.5 Swiss caliber ammunition that was issued with these weapons is known as GP 1911 ("Gewehr Patrone" - translates to "Rifle Cartridge") or more commonly as "GP 11". The big advantage to us collectors is that this ammunition uses non-corrosive components so bores are typically in very good to excellent condition.
If your a collector of C&R rifles or just someone who would like a great shooting rifle I would give a K-31 a try. I believe they will impress you as much as they have me. Good Shooting!
