Care of Instruments

Store your instrument is a safe place away from a heating or cooling source or outside wall.
Until you learn to tune your instrument, do not turn the pegs or the fine tuners!
Never make repairs to your instrument. Only a qualified technician should do that.
Do not drop your instrument or clean it with anything other than a clean soft cloth. Never use furniture polish! There are some polishes and polish cloths which are made specifically for stringed instruments. Learn how to use them before you apply them. Never apply polish to the strings or bow hair!
Always loosen your bow after you finish using it. Always tighten it, just enough, to practice. For violins, that is about a thumb thickness between the bow hair and the stick
