LENHART GENEALOGY

I have found conflicting information on various Lenhart references. The following is taken from The Early Families of Somerset and Fayette Co., PA US/CAN 974.87 D2d. The book is in the Family History Center in Salt Lake.

1st Generation: . Johan Peter Leonhardt: Johan Peter m Maria Margaretha, and resided in Zweibrucken, before immigrating to America (according to tradition). They arrived at Philadelphia on the ship Two Brothers on Sept. 15, 1748, and settled in Berks Co., Greenwich Twp., Pennslyvania. He was residing there on April 13, 1763. Maria Margaretha was b Sept. 28, 1715 and d on July 1, 1777. Peter d on April 4, 1774. They are buried in Strayer's Lutheran Cemetery.

They had the following children:

1. Philip b 1734; d Greenwich Twp., Berks Co., PA; m Anna

2. Johan Jacob b 18 Nov 1736; d 3 Aug 1793 Greenwich Twp., Berks Co., PA; m (1) Anna Maria 21 Jan 1760; m (2) Barbara aft 1791

*3. Johan Georg b 1738; d in 1797 Somerset Co., PA; m Anna Catharina abt 1767; served in Revolutionary War

4. Jon Christopher b abt 1740 ; d abt 1813 Unity Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA; m Anna Maria

5. Heinrich b 1742; d 21 Mar 1837 Somerset Co., PA; m Catherine; served in Revolutionaly War

6. Wilhelm b 1745; d 27 Oct 1819 Dover Twp., York Co., PA; m Anna Maria Rush

7. Johan Peter b 30 Jan 1749/50; d May 1814 Addison Twp., Somerset Co., PA; m Catherina Ogg abt 1771

8. Gottfried b 17 Mar 1754; d 15 Aug 1819 York Co., PA; m Elizabeth Holtzinger; possibly m 2nd Maria Elisabetha Harbaugh; Gottfried was a clockmaker in York and attended the First Reformed Church.

Second Generation: Family of Johan Georg

*Johan Georg b 1738; d in 1797 Somerset Co., PA; m Anna Catharina (possible surname was Sell or Schell) abt 1767; served in Revolutionary War

They moved from Dover Twp. to Newberry Twp. between 1777 and 1779, and to Monaghan Twp. between 1779 and 1783. Georg served as a Private in the Revolutionary War. Between 1783 and 1784, he moved to Somerset Co., PA and settled in Milford Creek Twp. and in 1784 he purchased 390 acres on. Coxes and Middle Creek

7. Hannah b 1780; d 27 Sep 1834 Sugar Creek Twp., Stark Co., OH; m John Dull; Hannah died of Cholera

8. Eva b 1782

9. Rebecca b 1 Nov 1785; bap Samuel's Church; m Adam Harrah

*10 Johan George b 8 Jan 1789; bap Samuel's Church; d 1842 Somerset Co., PA; m Mary b 1799; d 1875 Somerset Co., PA
