The team held its first parent information meeting.  It was wonderful to see returning families along with some new members.  If you missed the meeting do not fret there is another one on May 31st.

Barry Stevens stepped up to be the teams Officals Coordinator.  He will make sure that the team has trained volunteers to fill the referee, starter, and stroke judge positions for all the meets.  Be sure to thank Barry for taking on this important job for the team.  I know he will do a wonderful job.

We have GREAT news.  The team is now proud owners of the deluxe package of Meet Manager.  The software was donated to the team by Jim Rueff (Cindy Rueff’s father-in-law).  The software was $305 and now we have all the bells and whistles.  The team will send Mr. Rueff a team picture and shirt for his generous donation.

We are off to a good start.  We currently have 39 swimmers registered.  Parents are signing up for their volunteer meet obligations and going to training.  Be sure to see Kimberly, Michele or Sheryl if you need to sign up for your meet obligations.  If your swimmer will not be here for the time trails on June 16th be sure to fill out the sheet-in the red sign in notebook.  We are also taking orders for Team Shirts.

As I walked around the pool last night I was impressed with how well the swimmers were doing.  They all have improved quickly.  For only practicing for a week and a half everyone is doing great!  The swimmers are working hard and it shows.  Last week the coaches worked on conditioning.  This week they are working on a stroke a night.  Monday was freestyle, Tuesday was backstroke, and last night they worked on butterfly.  Next week the coaches will pull out the flags and work on starts and turns.  Keep encouraging your swimmers to work hard and it WILL payoff.  Our word for the week is PERSEVERANCE

We have received a Level 2 sponsor from Jerry Witham (a swimmers father) who also donated the labels we needed for the season.  We will send Mr. Witham a team picture for his sponsorship.  Thanks Jerry!!

This week we began our morning practices which start at 7am.  The first hour is practice for everyone.  Starting at 8am until 9am we are having practice with a specialized focus (see home page for more details).  The coaches are taking one stroke or skill and focusing on it for that hour.  Ideally, if your swimmer DQ’ed on a particular stroke or skill they would go to the specialized practice for that stroke and then go to the evening All Practice.  This will increase their skill level quickly.

Don’t forget Team Pictures Monday at 7:30pm.  Please continue your fundraising efforts.  We will be offering a small prize for the top seller of the Joe Corbi’s Fundraiser.

WOW, we finished our second meet already.  The season is moving fast.  I want to thank all to parents that are volunteering at the meets first.  I know a lot of you are doing the whole meet and I thank you for all that you are doing for the team.  I also want to let you know that the team dropped 146.15 seconds from their time this week.  We had minimal DQ’s and we placed in the top 6 consistently.  Even though we are a small team we are MIGHTY!!!!

July 10

Last night was the parent meeting.  We discussed the remaining season and the Swim-a-thon.  It is extremely important that all families participate in the  Swim-a-thon.  We are asking that each family try to collect $100 in pledges.  This money is need to finish the season.  If any one wants to see the budget copies are available.

Monday was the Swim-a-thon and it was a good time.  We had music, treats and laughs.  Thank you to everyone that came and participated.  There was $702 in pledges turned in Monday night.  What a great start.

The kids dropped time again this past meet.  As a team they dropped 85.94 seconds.  This is impressive for a team of our size and this far into the season.
