Project Management
- Developed Office applications automating the generation of detailed project schedules, manpower projections, and hardware/software requirements. Developed applications to transfer data to spreadsheets depicting budgeted/actual work hours per month and hardware/software budget. Developed Excel based timecard-recording application to facilitate time entry and reporting process. These tools greatly improved project tracking while automating status reporting, resulting in timely, accurate reporting.
- Developed Access database with which to track project status. This database provided for the assignment of task priorities, responsible parties, ongoing status updates, and automated progress reports. Features were added to the database to track adherence to ISO 9000 software development procedures. Developed forms/queries/reports to facilitate entry of critical project data, provide project status updates tailored to user-specified criteria, and support analysis and reporting in variety of Office applications. This database improved and facilitated tracking of critical tasks and project issues.
- Conducted periodic design reviews and generated Product Development Plan, Functional Specifications, and Test Plan documents in compliance with ISO 9000 procedures.
- Developed Access based status database and MS Project schedules for status tracking of performance calculation tasks. The database/schedules facilitated planning/tracking of complex array of tasks involving several engineers from different AspenTech offices. These accomplishments contributed substantially to project success ($0.75 M in performance bonus revenues) and customer satisfaction.
- Provided technical leadership and project management over development/testing phases of complex projects to $1.0 M involving multiple contractors, vendors, and ISO 9000 procedures/requirements. Consistently met performance specifications and schedule while successfully negotiating change orders for out-of-scope work.
- Program Manager for major customer contributing to strategic planning, proposals, budgeting, and status tracking/reporting. Worked closely with client Project Managers to ensure project objectives, change management procedures clearly defined and compliance with RUP methodology maintained throughout SDLC.
- Project Manager of on-site engineering support involving four engineers collaborating with client developers and production staff, as well as third-party developers. Implemented Change Management System providing rigorous tracking of work requests and requiring approval by client Project Managers of all such requests. This system enabled developers to focus on clearly defined priority tasks.
- Generated proposals to cover development of subsystem components, developed work plan, estimated resource requirements, and coordinated work assignments.
- Project Manager of DCS migration project. Coordinated product development activities among several ABB engineers and a third-party provider of a bridge to the existing control system. Project achieved objective of providing monitoring of all process variables by both the new and the legacy DCS systems throughout the migration process. ABB and third-party provider modified/expanded API libraries to facilitate the initialization and configuration of their respective systems, and to improve data transfer performance.
- Project Manager/Technical Lead of development of SOE Log Consolidation System for Power Generation Facility. Developed system design approach to fulfill customer requirements for a synchronized sequence-of-events (SOE) log consolidation system while minimizing project risks. Collaborated with foreign affiliate and third-party contractors to obtain development support, proprietary development tools, prototype equipment, and developer training.
