technical proposals
Senior Proposal Engineer directing proposals within Custom Software Services group and providing technical leadership of custom software development projects. Develop Office 97 based applications to automate the proposal generation process and track the status of proposals and projects. Develop preliminary system designs and write proposals. Technical discipline areas covered, and applications developed include:Proposal Automation, Tracking, and Analysis
- Developed Office tools to automate proposal development. Created templates in a variety of technical discipline areas, utilizing OLE and VBA macros to facilitate the input of key customer/technical information and distribute that information throughout Word proposal documents.
- Created Proposal Database in Access with which to track proposals. Developed forms/queries/reports to facilitate entry of proposal data and provide proposal status to proposal engineers and internal customers.
Advanced Process Control Proposals
- Performance measurement and load optimization software packages for use in electric power generation industry.
- Process simulators incorporating high fidelity process models, along with DCS hardware/software identical to that in the actual plant. These training simulators are utilized to train operators, and to test control strategies, pre-tune the plant DCS, and develop plant operating procedures.
Foreign Device Interfaces to Bailey Distributed Control System (DCS)
- Preliminary design & proposal of Foreign Device Interface (FDI) solutions to establish communication channels between the Bailey lnfi-90 modules and third-party hardware/software, such as: DCSs, data historians, PLCs, gas chronographs, paper scanners, RTUs, ESDs, turbine controllers, tank gauging systems, drive systems, recorders and many other devices.
Performance Information Management System Proposals
- Specify hardware/software for real-time data acquisition and plant information systems. Develop solutions to integrate "data historian" server system with DCS, as well as with plant-wide data highway networks.
- Enterprise-Wide Process Information Systems: Preliminary design and specification of appropriate methods for integrating a wide variety of software such as process accounting, production control, maintenance management, lab analysis or other software seamlessly into a plant or enterprise wide Management Information System (MIS).
- Strategic Enterprise Management Systems: Propose solutions integrating the Bailey lnfi-90 DCS network with plant-wide information systems, such as Gensym's G2 "Rule" based expert systems and SAP R/3.
- Network Solutions: Develop solutions to networking applications involving switching, bridging, routing, and remote access server solutions to integrating plant and office wide LANs and WANs with the DCS data highway. Areas addressed include the preliminary design of LAN and WAN systems, specification of internet/intranet access servers, and selection of appropriate network management tools.
SBIR Proposal
- Generated SBIR proposal for non-contacting torque sensor capable of detecting dynamic loading and torque on a rotating shaft.
- Proposal included detailed discussion of state-of-the-art sensors, results from testing an innovative new sensing technique, approach to developing and testing a commercially viable product, required resources, and commercialization strategy.
