When you research your ancestry, you'll discover more than just names, places and dates. Since each of your ancestors contributed to your physical and mental makeup, finding out about them is really finding out about yourself. There will be gaps between the bits of information you are able to gather, and filling in these gaps involves detective work. Why did they move from there to there? Why did they get married in that county? What became of that child? Where are they buried? Sometime during the process of piecing together the life of an ancestor, you may get the feeling that you actually know the person! In some sense you do, and that's what makes genealogy so rewarding.
