The best way to
clean your victorian lampshades is with a very soft bristled brush (I use
an old horse hair brush) and with a gentle sweeping motion simply brush
downward, brushing the dust off. A vacuum cleaner can also be used, being
very careful not to pull hard on the fabric. If you need to remove a spot,
a damp cloth and Scotch Guard will usually work, but you DON'T want to
use it on silk! Do a very small patch test first on any shade before using
this method. If you don't have a horse hair brush, any soft bristled paint
brush will work, just make sure it is VERY SOFT bristled! A course brush
could cause a snag in delicate fabric.
