At present we are focusing solely on the lampshades but as time permits we will be adding a variety of other items such as porcelain and metal lamp bases and finials. I also hope to add some of my beautiful porcelain dolls. Beautiful Victorian style lampshades aren't just for people who live in big old victorian homes, they look fantastic in any style home or apartment!
Bring A Little of the Past Into Your Present With Our Beautiful Victorian style, also known as Bordello Lampshades. 1. Never use anything over a 60 watt bulb. I usually use 25 to 40 watt bulbs, not JUST as a fire safety, but also for the life of your shade! The heat from high wattage bulbs will eventually cause the fabric in your shade to dry rot and begin splitting. TIP: IF YOU HAVE A LAMPSHADE THAT HAS STARTED TO SPLIT DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT EXPOSURE DAB SOME FRAY CHECK ON THE ENDS OF THE SPLIT AND THEN REDUCE THE WATTAGE OF THE LIGHT BULBS YOU'VE BEEN USING. 2. Never place your lampshade in the direct direction of an air conditioner, it can cause moisture condensation to build up and begin rusting on the frame. 3. Never place your lampshade in a window where it will be in direct sunlight, it will fade the fabric! 4. Never immerse your lampshade in water, please refer to my techniques for cleaning. 5. Never allow children with scissors around your lampshades ;-) 6. ALWAYS make sure that the wiring on your lamp is in excellent condition, if not have it replaced. If you don't know how to do it yourself you can take it to a lamp shop. 7. Always make sure to use between 15 to 60 watt light bulbs, NEVER higher. 8. Always remember to follow all these instructions
and you will have a lampshade that will last you a lifetime and beyond!
I search for the finest and most unique fabrics, laces, fringe, beads and such for my lampshades. Many of my fabrics come directly from China, fringes from California and Canada, and Beads from Switzerland and Italy. There is very little that I get locally to make these lampshades.
All of the decals used in my lampshades come from Har-bon Ceramics and Decals Company. Please check their site out on my Links page. They have some of the most beautiful decals and are most friendly to work with! |
